[Cecil is Done With This. Cecil is so Done With This he doesn't even look up from the Pokégear as he walks his way through some Rocket base. It's a miracle he hasn't yet walked into someone, really.]

If anyone had ever thought to ask me what I miss the least about my world, enemy lairs filled with dead ends and hostile creatures would have been near the top of the list. Do criminal leaders not take into account their employees' safety and morale?

Hey! What are you doing here!?

[Nope, still not looking up, even as he takes out a pokéball and throws it.]

I'd petition to the authorities for better working conditions and protections in their name, but I doubt their employers-

I said, what are you doing here!?

-care about such laws.

[Fwooosh, goes the offscreen Flamethrower.]

Nooo, my Zubat!

...Then again, considering I've battled every grunt I've met along the way, I'm hardly in a position to criticize their policies. Or their excellently fireproofed floors, for that matter.

The route northwest of Viridian is closed. Trainers are currently not allowed to cross it, not even to see if the Elite Four is truly waiting beyond.

[He can't even hide his disappointment properly. He'd been looking forward to confirming that particular rumor.]

That leaves route 26 to the south and route 28 to the west. If anyone knows where they lead, I'd appreciate any information. ...Or perhaps I should go back and-

[And it's off. Guess that last part wasn't meant for everyone to hear.]

paladinlost: (furious)
...eat no good for... ...ken, I can...

[The sound is terrible, words and static jumbled together between patches of silence. The image is not much better, with Cecil's shape being barely discernable at best. Something must have happened to that pokégear, but what?]

Cinn... ...types everywhere, but...

[The shape that is probably Cecil moves suddenly, as if it's turning around-]

...urf! Dragon...

[At that moment, the feed is cut.]

((ooc: Cecil is lost, his gear is in a pretty bad shape, and he's finding out that visiting Cinnabar Volcano with his weaker Pokémon was not a very good idea. Replies will come several hours later and discussions will be kept short IC.))

Finding a Fire-type Gym so close to a frozen cavern was unexpected, but they seem to be doing well enough.

[Cecil looks cheerful, proud and covered by a thin layer of frost. That's what happens when the whole battle is spent under Rain Dance and said frozen cavern is visited right after, but he doesn't mind.]

Two more badges to earn by August 29. Perhaps having sixteen has more of an effect than having only Johto's eight; we'll know soon enough

[He doubts that, but it's a nice thought.]
paladinlost: (happy)
[Today, Cecil is filming a small group of Pidgeys pecking at the ground and hunting for worms. It's a rather peaceful image, really.]

Route 25 is as far north as Kanto goes, it seems. Yet the same Pidgeys and Bellsprouts that can be found between New Bark and Violet live here. I wonder what makes certain species so widespread, while others can only rarely be found even in their natural habitats?

[Two of the Pidgeys start arguing over a particularly juicy bug. He looks at the scene for a few seconds, before he starts to put the Pokégear away with a few parting words.]

...Eleven out of sixteen. I think I'll aim for Celadon next.

[My, what is this? A sleeping bag is spread out near a few tall rocks, with a campfire to its left. Multiple articles of clothing are strewn around, along with a few random objects. Why, it looks like a makeshift camp deep within a cave!

...Actually, it looks more like a curious Sandshrew poking at the Pokégear, but the camp is there in the background. And said Sandshrew doesn't even stay there very long, as it suddenly gets smacked in the head by a pokéball.]

...It seems something good came out of this unexpected teleportation after all.

[Yet he doesn't say it with much energy. You'd think his first capture in over a year would be a reason to celebrate.]

I have a question for those who were previously familiar with Kanto. From Mt. Moon, should I aim for Pewter or for Cerulean? I'd rather not find myself spending a week outside during a snowstorm.

[Even though he did that deliberately last year. Hypocrite.]
paladinlost: (happy)

[Today, Cecil is posting from the street right in front of the Olivine Gym. Flare is sitting beside him, looking tired but happy.]

Rosa, Rydia, are you both still well? Flare needs to rest first, but we'll soon be able to come find you. We'll not be long, I promise.

[Now that the most important thing he had to say is out of the way, he has a question for everyone else.]

Could anyone tell me more about the Mahogany and Blackthorn Gyms, along with the roads that lead to them? With the end of the road so close, it'd be a shame to stop now.

[Flare barks quickly in agreement, and Cecil ends the message.]

Well, I've finally found a building of historical and mythical significance.

[The video is somewhat dark, but Cecil can be seen, looking attentively at the walls.]

I was unable to visit the matching tower, sadly. But the associated legend is rather interesting. One Pokémon reviving three others... That would take more than the equivalent of a Phoenix Down. Or of a Raise spell.

[He takes a Revive from his pocket and shows it to the camera.]

I also managed to find a few items between all the rocks. Hidden objects and capsules that serve as treasure chests; it almost feels like home. Has anyone found interesting objects on the road?
