Ladies, gentlemen, I wish you all a happy new year.
[Cecil's tone is the same he's used for dozens of formal addresses back in Baron. Coupled with such a short greeting, it sounds... odd.]
Every new year should come with a resolution. Ideally one that can be achieved with hard work but without unnecessary privation.
[Which is why there's currently a cup of coffee in his hands. Not getting rid of that anytime soon.]
I've found one that suits me, but I'll need everyone's help to prepare. Can you think of any Pokémon species that you've not seen any of us train, at least at the moment? The type and the temperament matter little; the only criterion of importance is the lack of popularity. Any interesting lead would be greatly appreciated.
[He moves to turn the Gear off, stops himself, speaks once more.]
...Also, I've found myself in possession of far too much chocolate liqueur for me to consume. Would anyone be so kind as to take some of it off my hands?

So I'm curious. Is it because you want to be unique or because you want everything to be equally loved or what? The whole...resolution thing.

[It's not like there's a whole lot of choice.]
Best of luck in figuring out what you want to raise, though. I'd imagine that's not going to be too easy, a lot of people's teams are pretty broad.
no subject
[Quite possibly because they're everywhere.]
Our teams might have grown large, but there are more species to train and fewer trainers to train them. Surely there are one or two that have been nearly forgotten.
[NAKI NO]
As for your resolution, uh... Are Inkays popular? I can't remember seeing anyone else with one. Well, one I didn't give to them.
[It's probably obvious why Naki's asking about Inkays, given just how many are in the frame of the video. Five? Six? There's a lot of them. They're sitting on Naki's lap or beside him on the couch and chirping excitedly as he speaks.]
Malamars are total bitches in battle too. You don't fuck with Malamars. You'd think they'd be more popular, since they're Psychic- and Dark-types. But hey, that's just my opinion!
[AND HE'S HELLA BIASED]
[Please take more. He's got enough to drown his whole team.
That's a lot of Inkays, though.]
I'd say you are single-handedly raising their popularity tenfold, but if they are truly that talented... I might be looking for uncommon species at the moment, but I hardly mean to limit myself to them. Perhaps I'll find them for one in a few months.

[oh my god]
I can send an egg your way the next time I get one? They're great, I totally love these little fuckers.
[The Inkays are apparently perfectly fine with this despite Naki's language, and they all kind of squish in on him.]
Hey, hey, knock it off. But yeah, otherwise uh... I'm pretty sure most of my others are pretty common. So I can't really help you there.
no subject
[Well. At least his delivery Pokémon will enjoy the exercise?]
They do appear to be very affectionate. My team certainly needs more of that, and I'm hardly one to reject a potential team member. Thank you for convincing me; even if it'll not fit my resolution, your help is greatly appreciated.

[sorry, cecil]
Yeah, don't mention it. They're really great and they've got the best evolution method! You shove 'em in a bottle, spin 'em around, and then they pour out like fucking champagne!
[naki please]
Malamars are fucking great, they're really strong and they're really good at fucking with their opponents. So you definitely won't be disappointed!
no subject
[Hang on a second, what is this, why are those words coming out in that order and context?]
How does that- Does it harm them? Does it upset them? Do they use their newly gained strength to take revenge on the trainers who inflicted such torture upon them?
no subject
Nah, they're pretty cool with it. They're a little disoriented for awhile, but what the fuck would you expect otherwise? They don't get mad at you for it or anything!
...And I'm pretty sure that's how you're supposed to do it? I mean, they sell that shit in the Goldenrod Department Store, so...?
[...is this a bad thing, he just thought it was hilarious.]
no subject
[Still very much not sure, though.]
I suppose letting the Pokémon decide when to evolve is simply even more important for that particular species.
no subject
[THINGS HE NEVER CONSIDERED, UM]
I know they evolve pretty late, but I don't remember the exact level. I've got it written down somewhere. But if you try to evolve 'em early nothing happens. Uh. Not that I'd suggest that.
[...it's pretty funny though.]
no subject
[Which is the case for all Pokémon, really, but they don't all have a motive.]
no subject
[That's. Probably not the point, is it. Um.]
I'm pretty sure they're okay with it? They've never gotten too mad at me. Not like I shove them in the fucking bottles all the time or anything, but you know what I mean.
no subject
[If anything, Cecil looks even more impressed by them.]

[Most of hers fall under that category... but hmm.]
[After a moment's thought, she leans down and reaches under wherever she's sitting, before pulling out a large, fluffy, and sort of sparkly-looking golden Larvesta, which wiggles and squeaks in objection to being removed from its hiding spot and put on camera.]
Ever seen anybody train one of these? I think I'm the only person I know who has one...
[Sure, he trains both of those so he's in no position to talk, but still. He has a Lunatone and a Ledian, that balances them out.
That is one very lovely Larvesta, though.]
I have seen one before, yes; I train a Volcarona of my own, as a matter of fact. However, this is the first time I see a shiny one. Was it a Christmas egg?
[Not that she doesn't love them. There's a REASON they're so popular, after all-- everybody likes Eevees!]
--and oh! Volcarona? Is that what these little guys evolve into? I haven't actually, uh... done much research...
[Setting the plump, fluffy bug down in her lap (it promptly buries its head into the crook of her elbow), she rubs the back of her neck.]
She was, yeah. My dad got her before... uh. Before he left.
[Not that the scarcity principle can explain it anymore. Cecil taps his fingers against his cup thoughtfully.]
I apologize for ruining the surprise, then. I've no doubt he'd be very happy to know that she's in such good hands. How is her training progressing?
[She looks down at the bundle of fluff.]
I... confess, I haven't really trained her at all. She's... kinda shy. So mostly she's just been around the house.
Makes a damn good nightlight, though.
[His request is answered with a soft Clefafa and the sound of footsteps moving away.]
A surprising duty, but one she surely fulfills handily. I've found that they are also an excellent source of warmth when reading a book on a rainy day.
Like a hot water-bottle. ... 'Cept softer.
[It helped that Carrie liked to be in laps.]
[Being wrapped in nice warm wings is even more charming, but he'll let Heather discover that herself.]
Hey, was yours real quiet? Like... I can't tell if she's just got a really shy personality of if all of 'em are like that.
I don't think I've seen Carrie 'talk' with anyone.
Maybe she's just a real introvert. ... Or a good listener.
