104th moon [4th walls suck at keeping bats out]

[Ahhh, the last weekend of November. As nearly always, every city is invaded by dozens of confused new arrivals, strange Legendaries party like it's 1999, innocent trainers and breeders wake up on the beach or in the middle of the Ice Cave, not-so innocent Rockets do the same, Cecil's house and yard are overtaken by thousands upon thousands of shiny and non-shiny Zubats...

...Wait, what?]

If anyone could help me chase these away before this world returns to normal, it'd be much appreciated!

[Well, if these creatures are harmful, what else do you do but fight them? Kain already has his spear drawn and is attempting to make bat-kebabs.]

What are these creatures capable of? And why are there so many, Cecil?

I don't know! They usually live in caves, not in the middle of cities.

[And their shiny version is usually not so common, but that's a very minor detail.]

They cain drain your energy, confuse you, perhaps even poison you if their levels are high enough. Be careful!

What a nuisance... but I'll keep that in mind!

[Because there seems to be a lot of the things, so dealing with them definitely won't be an easy task. Kain still does his best, swinging his spear to try and whack away a bunch of them.]

I've never seen anything like them before... where are we, Cecil? [Hm ok well this is all ringing a bell a bit more the longer he's here.] ...why do I think I know the answer to that?

[There is now a Zubat stuck in his hair. He simply cannot allow this state of affairs to continue.]

Can you see a pair of black and blue lions nearby?

I had this feeling it was something like that… it certainly feels even more familiar, the longer I’m here.

[He gives another swing of the weapon toward some bats, which scatter, glancing all around curiously.]

Not yet… are these lions pets of yours?

In a manner of speaking. Their electrical attacks would be useful against these, but they might not have been able to exit the house with the door blocked as it is.

[Indeed, said door is currently being assaulted by dozens of panicked Zubats. Can't get much more blocked than that.]

Ah... well, then surely they're around here somewhere... and if you could get that door open... perhaps you could get them out of here...

[Well, except there's so many of them between here and the door, ugh. They really are swarming around thickly here.]

If I could get that door open, I'd force our way in there and lock the bats out, instead of trying to fight back.

[He has enough food to last a week or so. They could survive on homemade meals, confusing discussions and reality shows.]

How did so many of them end up here in the first place?

[Surely he'd have noticed them starting to swarm in, of course unless this happened all of a sudden.]

[Said in a completely deadpan manner. It's probably the truth, too, all things considered.]

[He can't help but suspect that there's something behind it, or someone even.]

One of the Legendaries', I've no doubt, but I could hardly tell you which one.

[There's too many.]

Are the legendaries this world’s version of gods, then?

[If they possess that much power it certainly sounds that way.]

As far as we can tell. Some have more power than most creatures over the elements, while others have more abstract abilities.

Do they often war or cause other trouble? Force all of you to fight one another endlessly?

Luckily, no. A few attempted to fight each other, but they were controlled by criminals at the time.

At least the past isn't repeating itself for you, in that case.

Thankfully. Every battle I participate in is of my own volition, and most end with a shared drink or meal. I can appreciate that.

That’s a surprisingly civilized way to end a battle. I suppose the stakes aren’t nearly the same as the gods’ conflict. Who are you fighting against? Other nations here?

Trainers who wish to test their team's strength, mostly. And sometimes criminals, but those rarely deserve my time once I've won.

I'm sure you undoubtedly put those criminals in their place.

More often than not, yes. But one once escaped while I was distracted by angry garbage.
