[Every day, many wasteful acts are committed across the world: nearly empty shampoo bottles are thrown away, ice cream bowls are not carefully scraped clean with a spoon, quality cold cuts are not placed between slices of freshly-baked bread, regained magic is not cast...

Cecil Harvey is not a wasteful person.

In fact, he's such an unwasteful person that he spends a large part of the weekend teleporting up to random confused souls, offering them ice cream and sandwiches aplenty, and teleporting away.

All of that with hair that looks like it came out of a shampoo commercial, of course.]

'Ghost' is considered an elemental affinity in this world. It comes with an immunity to 'normal' attacks, such as explosions.

That sounds... useful. Extremely. Though ghost implies... are they the spirits of the dead?

...Sometimes, but not always. It depends on their species, and on the circumstances of their creation.

They're created? How?

[paladinlost]

It varies. Shuppets and Banettes are said to come to life when a doll is abandoned by its owner and taken over by angry spirits, but that's only one method for one evolutionary line.

What strange creatures they are... they're less like anything we have back home than I'd first assumed.

Yet they still show the same loyalty as any Eidolon, and the same ability to battle.

That's useful.

[Not enough to make him ever want to do a job class switch the was Cecil apparently has, but still it seems that it works for those of this world.]

It almost compensates for our loss of power and strength.

[He really does wonder how anyone could live in such conditions and stay sane. But then not everyone is as combat-oriented as Kain.]

Of course. They fight well, but I'd much rather have both the arms and the team, if it was a possibility.

I don't know how you've been able to deal with it... but you seem to have done well despite that difficulty.

I've had plenty of time to adapt and help in doing so. What could I do but flourish?

Yes I could very well see someone like you flourishing very well indeed...

I've no doubt you could, too. If only by training all the dragons in this world.

Yes, of course, I could do well with dragons as always... but I would still want to take a lance and join them against our enemies, together.

...That'd lead to your arrest, and to weeks of community service. At best.

[Then again, so would leaving town after working only four days, so...]

If that's the penalty, I'd gladly take my chances.

[He smirks in amusement at that. And oh man, if leaving town is a punishable offense, Kain basically would be doing permanent, constant community service, whoops.]

Truly? You'd accept weeks of washing dishes as a punishment?

[Can he get that in writing, for the day Kain finally comes home for good?]

If it also means weeks of fighting as I ought to...

[Kain hinges enough of who he is on his fighting abilities and his need to practice it... that any price is worth it.]

...I must say I'm not certain if saying 'weeks' is being terrifyingly optimistic, or a sad but correct evaluation of the local police force.

It could be much worse. For all that the locals are confused by our presence, they've been surprisingly accepting of our ignorance of their customs.

I'm almost afraid to ask... but are there any other strange customs that they have?

Other than challenging all who meet their eyes to a pet battle, and taking money from young children when they lose?
