Finding a Fire-type Gym so close to a frozen cavern was unexpected, but they seem to be doing well enough.

Many who are familiar with this world have mentioned the Elite Four previously. Perhaps one with both Kanto and Johto's badges would be allowed to challenge them, or at least be told where they are.

Thank you. I have to admit, having them so close to each other in Kanto greatly improved my productivity.

That sounds like a good enough goal at least...

So the cities are closer to each other than in Johto? I haven't studied much on Kanto's geography, but that is really convenient for the trainers.

A whole group of them are only two or three days away from Saffron. It's quite useful for those who come from Goldenrod.

Putting it that way, it seems like a more fitting place to start a journey than to finish it... Travel must be easier when there is less distance between the two points.

I doubt they mean for the journey to be easy. It is like a test of our strength and determination, after all.

That much is true, but still for many learning how to live here would be much kinder if travel were easier.

It's about making the learning curve more gradual.

It could be that they expect our starters to take care of that part. Perhaps the locals are more adept with them even at first?

Many of us come from living our whole lives in cities and are not used to traveling by foot, too...

I suppose we would first need to know who brought us here in order to understand their reasoning.

That sort of information would tell us a lot, yes. But why would city life stop you from travelling by foot?

Mostly because of having faster methods for transportation... I lived in a small island myself, and when I went out, most of my traveling was done by ship or by car...

As long as water are involved, ships are necessary. But beyond that, walking is usually more than enough to go from one country to the other.

I guess it would... But it could take someone several weeks to walk from one country to another, and let's not even talk about those countries across the ocean.

I mean, one could probably still do it, but with faster methods, there is not much point, is there? Unless, of course, you want to take a really long walk.

Hovercrafts and airships are faster, but only a handful of both exist in the world. That only leaves walking and riding chocobos, for most. ...But perhaps we'd also walk a lot less, if we had your technology.

Our world was the same for a long while, before the technology became more accessible and less expensive...

I think it is safe to assume that the same could happen in your world eventually...

May I ask about those "chocobos" you mentioned?

Chocobos? They're bipedal birds, mostly yellow but sometimes white or black. The yellow ones are excellent mounts, the white ones can replenish magical energy, and the black ones can fly. ...You can imagine them as resembling Doduos, without the second head.

I see... They must be really interesting creatures. We had a few larger birds back in my world, but I don't think they could be used as mounts so easily.

Surely you used other animals? Horses, perhaps?

Yes, people used mostly horses until technology started becoming more advanced... Nowadays cars are far more popular.

They do look amusing to pilot, from what I've seen of the officers on the road.

I haven't done it myself, but driving seems to be quite fun, yes.

You'd think they'd be available to us, if only to rent. Surely that would earn them quite the profit, considering the demand.

I do wonder how expensive cars are in here, considering how most of the traveling is done...

Or maybe they just want us to walk.

It's kind of them to want us to improve our health, but those who arrive wounded or ill must not appreciate it.
