Finding a Fire-type Gym so close to a frozen cavern was unexpected, but they seem to be doing well enough.

It sounds like your world was quite smaller than mine...

Truly? It could also depend on the proximity of the various countries.

I guess it would... But it could take someone several weeks to walk from one country to another, and let's not even talk about those countries across the ocean.

I mean, one could probably still do it, but with faster methods, there is not much point, is there? Unless, of course, you want to take a really long walk.

Hovercrafts and airships are faster, but only a handful of both exist in the world. That only leaves walking and riding chocobos, for most. ...But perhaps we'd also walk a lot less, if we had your technology.

Our world was the same for a long while, before the technology became more accessible and less expensive...

I think it is safe to assume that the same could happen in your world eventually...

May I ask about those "chocobos" you mentioned?

Chocobos? They're bipedal birds, mostly yellow but sometimes white or black. The yellow ones are excellent mounts, the white ones can replenish magical energy, and the black ones can fly. ...You can imagine them as resembling Doduos, without the second head.

I see... They must be really interesting creatures. We had a few larger birds back in my world, but I don't think they could be used as mounts so easily.

Surely you used other animals? Horses, perhaps?

Yes, people used mostly horses until technology started becoming more advanced... Nowadays cars are far more popular.

They do look amusing to pilot, from what I've seen of the officers on the road.

I haven't done it myself, but driving seems to be quite fun, yes.

You'd think they'd be available to us, if only to rent. Surely that would earn them quite the profit, considering the demand.

I do wonder how expensive cars are in here, considering how most of the traveling is done...

Or maybe they just want us to walk.

It's kind of them to want us to improve our health, but those who arrive wounded or ill must not appreciate it.

I've noticed that most of the wounds are healed upon arrival... I'm not sure if they considered that some may not.

They have not. A friend of mine arrived mostly healed but still greatly weakened by events that took place in our world. No concessions were made for him.

That sounds terrible...

He did, with some help, but the incident left him wary. I've no doubt it's been the case for others.

I've thought in the past about maybe setting up some kind of solution for the people who arrive... I just haven't had enough time.

The main problem would be the lack of shops in New Bark Town, I think. If newcomers could at least buy weather-appropriate clothing...

Transportation is also a problem, not everyone is ready to make the trip to Cherrygrove, and much less if they are hurt or without supplies.

And the chance of a newcomer having a Pokémon large enough to transport multiple people is rather low.

And the chance of someone with a large pokémon still living in Cherrygrove is just as low...

That's the main disadvantage of Goldenrod and Saffron's popularity. Then again, we now have many more people who can fly and might be willing to help those who have just arrived.

That much is true.

With how much most of us tend to either stay far from the starter cities or travel all the time, doing something like that could be complicated...

I plan on eventually settling in Cherrygrove, so maybe I can take it as a long term plan.
