[Today's view of Ecruteak's Pokémon Center appears perfectly normal: the usual music is playing, the receptionist's desk is clean, and Cecil is smiling, with his hands clasped together and his right eyebrow twitching and- erm.]

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is a Public Service Announcement.

[A strange squelching noise can be heard from behind him, apparently moving. He ignores it.]

A Tentacruel answering to 'Lester' was found in the Ecruteak City Pokémon Center's women's bathroom this morning, unharmed and bearing a copy of '649 Ways to Bond With Your Tentacruel', along with two pairs of female undergarments. If you have any information about Lester's owner, please contact the Ecruteak City Pokémon Center promptly. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

[A tentacle slowly slides up his left arm, finally resting on his shoulder. He ignores it.]

[Cecil's smile looks particularly frozen as he turns the feed off.]

Substitute children are easy to find, for some reason.

That, I suppose, is some sort of blessing.

It'd be nice if the non-substitute ones found themselves here, too.

I.... cannot speak of that, myself. {She looks down towards the ground, and her next sentence is exceedingly quiet.} I have none.

...That's a shame. You seem like you'd be an excellent mother. Still, there's always the future, right?

{Just... blushing and flailing for a bit, before quietly replying.} Perhaps. One of my friends came from my immediate future, but...

I don't know if something like that will happen.

No one ever knows. Children can be a very unexpected blessing, sometimes.

I - I hope so.

{Still blushing a little.} How many were you blessed with?

Only the one son. My wife and I could never have asked for a better child.

[Yet he looks a bit... sadder, perhaps.]

{She'll try not to intrude overmuch on that memory.} Does he look like you?

He takes after both sides of the family, both in appearance and in personality.

Then he must be very kind, and quite handsome!

All that and more. Everyone in the kingdom is quite proud of him.

{She smiles softly at the description, but it slips away to a more serious one. She pauses, though before she asks.}

...do you wish he was here?

Everyday. I know he'd love the Pokémon, and having the opportunity to raising them. But he's needed at home.

As is so often the case.

If it comes down to it, I'd like to think that everyone here was needed.

But what of those who have - well, to put it bluntly - have died?

That'd depend on their world's version of the afterlife, I suppose.

...that is true, I suppose.

If I ever go home, and remember this place, I'll look out for them.

...You might want to take notes, considering the number of people you'd have to look out for. Unless you have a way to see someone's history?

I have an exceedingly good memory, luckily.

{She grimaces.} The Twelfth Division handles that kind of thing, but they're... a little idiosyncratic.

...You make idiosyncratic sound like a terrible thing. Are they that bad?

They are literally the maddest of the mad scientists - it's practically a trait they look for when they recruit.
