[Today's quote should sound quite familiar to anyone who watched last week's EV NEWS. So should the Cele-Berry Meringue waiting in front of the Gear, for that matter. Homemade and fresh, thank you very much.]

Bringing back a spring snow after weeks of summer heat matches both sentences perfectly, if you ask me. Has anyone thought to look for legendary Pokémon around their garden today?

[Not that Cecil himself has, of course. Nope.]

I wonder if things go differently for them in the wild... trained ones at least seem to keep their offensive moves even if they aren't terribly good, but the wild Metapod and Kakuna I've encountered have only used Harden. Perhaps surviving long enough in that state is an equivalent method that allows them to evolve...

...Goodness. How long could that possibly take? Months, years? With only a harder shell to defend themselves...

If it's anything like regular insects... well, who knows? Caterpillars don't take anywhere near that long, but if they're more like cicadas... well, we just don't know. It would probably be a bit difficult to observe, as well, given how wild Pokemon behave.

That could be possible if we found a Shiny one by chance, as it would be easier to recognize. But I've no idea if they can even be found in the wilderness.

It's difficult to say, really. Going by normal genetics, differently colored animals are rare for a reason... but there's really nothing normal about how Pokemon operate, so I can imagine a shiny Caterpie having just as much of a chance as a regular Caterpie even if it stands out more.

...It might have a higher chance of being deliberately targeted by trainers, however, which would make observing it more complicated.

...ah, yes, there's that, too. Then again, I'm quite sure the average Metapod wouldn't be terribly difficult to simply pick up and carry... you wouldn't own it the way you'd own a Pokemon captured in a Pokeball, so it would still be wild on some level.

I wonder if the locals would accept that, even if it was to observe it. They are quite attached to their traditions; how would they see a trainer that keeps a Pokémon without catching it?

Well, I can't really say I care what they think, so long as there's no legal ramifications. Getting jailed simply because I want to see how something works would make it more trouble than it was worth.

...Considering that they've previously sent out arrest warrants for the crime of working less then five whole days for an employer, I'd not be surprised if that were the case.

It gets worse. Those warrants last just as long as the ones for near-deadly assault and theft.

Seeing as they consider attempts to post a bail bribery, I doubt they consider fines an appropriate punishment.

Ugh. I'll never truly understand this place's logic. Sometimes I feel as though I'm getting close, and then I learn something like this...

It could be that the extreme rarity of death here has skewed their perception of crime. If a theft and an attempt at murder cause someone the same amount of inconvenience, why not punish them equally?

Honestly, I was more baffled by murder being considered on par with leaving work early. It being on par with thievery based exactly on that line of logic, as from what I've gathered, being murdered sounds like it might be even less of an inconvenience than having your best Pokemon stolen from you here.

...It could be that they consider having to replace a missing employee for a few days more inconvenient than the time they waste by being almost killed. Though that would be an extremely horrifying point of view.

Oh, most certainly... but if someone's operation has such a high turnover rate, I suppose I can understand why that person would get a bit unreasonable.

And considering the way they accept almost any worker, they must also compensate for untrained or untalented employees, including some who leave just as they are learning the tricks of the trade. That must be frustrating.

Well, it's not like any of those jobs seem terribly difficult to learn, but I prefer self-employment on general principle.

They might be easy for us adults, but I've no doubt some of the children have more trouble with them.

There are PokeMarts and Pokemon Centers in practically every town, at least, so if it's a problem of retention, they could take a job at one of those places every time.

That would work, if they have the discipline and work ethic necessary to make themselves find employment in every town. I see many people living of Gym earnings or a few weeks' worth of salary.

That seems somewhat unfeasible, given that Gym earnings don't last half as long as you'd expect...
