[Today's quote should sound quite familiar to anyone who watched last week's EV NEWS. So should the Cele-Berry Meringue waiting in front of the Gear, for that matter. Homemade and fresh, thank you very much.]

Bringing back a spring snow after weeks of summer heat matches both sentences perfectly, if you ask me. Has anyone thought to look for legendary Pokémon around their garden today?

[Not that Cecil himself has, of course. Nope.]

They might be easy for us adults, but I've no doubt some of the children have more trouble with them.

There are PokeMarts and Pokemon Centers in practically every town, at least, so if it's a problem of retention, they could take a job at one of those places every time.

That would work, if they have the discipline and work ethic necessary to make themselves find employment in every town. I see many people living of Gym earnings or a few weeks' worth of salary.

That seems somewhat unfeasible, given that Gym earnings don't last half as long as you'd expect...

A very frugal lifestyle goes a long way. That, or sharing expenses with a larger group.

The latter isn't always practical, and the former... well. I haven't had any trouble surviving, per se, but I would imagine it would be difficult to maintain any sort of expensive hobby.

It certainly makes improving your team with TMs impossible, unless you have all sixteen badges and the discount that comes with them. But you'd be more likely to need those new attacks before reaching that point.

You can also breed Pokemon, but that goes back to the problem of TMs being quite expensive, since Pokemon that are likely to hatch with a great deal of moves seem to be more widely desired.

That's a relatively recent trend, from what I've seen. When I first arrived we were happy with whatever was available, even if one of the parents was a Ditto. Then again, we had less choice when it came to species and moves in the first place.

Such is the march of progress, I suppose. People will settle for something more limited until they know there are far more options available to them than they once though.

Perhaps certain species that are sought after by trainers these days will be ignored by all in three years. Who knows what we'll discover by then?

Who knows, indeed. Maybe they'll let us into the other regions buy that point in time.

That would be nice. Ship travel between Olivine and Vermillion is now available to us, under certain conditions; surely they also have sea routes to other lands that we could use?

Even land travel could theoretically be possible. Most maps I've seen of these two regions do seem to imply that there's more land to the north, but it's difficult to say if it's practical to get there by land.

As the regions' whole northern border seems to be a continuous mountain chain, land travel would be extremely difficult. It sometimes makes me wish I could find an airship in this world.

Yes, that's unfortunately true... I'm not terribly familiar with airships, but air travel is also nonexistent. There's really just the train, which could be useful if there was some way to get around the issue of the mountain range.

In theory, a tunnel would fix that problem. But between the type of rock in those mountains, the space necessary for the rails, the resources needed to start such a large project, the Pokémon living there...

Well, there has to be at least some part of the range that isn't too terrible to tunnel through. Of course, even if we had the amount of clout to get anyone in this world interested in attempting the project, it would require huge amounts of planning and would likely take several decades to complete.

With none of us staying here long enough to witness it, hopefully. And with no certainty that a train through the mountains would lead to any current settlement there, as far as any of us are aware.

Well, if there is a current settlement there, I certainly would like to see that. Whether or not I want to wait that long is entirely another matter...

While I'm relatively certain I'd still be healthy enough for such a long train ride, I'd much rather be home by then.

Wouldn't everyone? Well, unless they were dead before arriving here, I suppose.

...no, I understand where you're coming from. I've spoken to a number of people who seem like their circumstances here are better than they were back in their own worlds. I can't really say I envy them, myself.

I can easily see how someone's life here could be better than a particularly bad week or month in their world, and how that would influence their thoughts if they were brought here at that moment. Still, desiring to stay forever away from home is something I could never imagine feeling.
