[Today's quote should sound quite familiar to anyone who watched last week's EV NEWS. So should the Cele-Berry Meringue waiting in front of the Gear, for that matter. Homemade and fresh, thank you very much.]

Bringing back a spring snow after weeks of summer heat matches both sentences perfectly, if you ask me. Has anyone thought to look for legendary Pokémon around their garden today?

[Not that Cecil himself has, of course. Nope.]

In theory, a tunnel would fix that problem. But between the type of rock in those mountains, the space necessary for the rails, the resources needed to start such a large project, the Pokémon living there...

Well, there has to be at least some part of the range that isn't too terrible to tunnel through. Of course, even if we had the amount of clout to get anyone in this world interested in attempting the project, it would require huge amounts of planning and would likely take several decades to complete.

With none of us staying here long enough to witness it, hopefully. And with no certainty that a train through the mountains would lead to any current settlement there, as far as any of us are aware.

Well, if there is a current settlement there, I certainly would like to see that. Whether or not I want to wait that long is entirely another matter...

While I'm relatively certain I'd still be healthy enough for such a long train ride, I'd much rather be home by then.

Wouldn't everyone? Well, unless they were dead before arriving here, I suppose.

...I knew of at least one person who was not quite dead, but who would still have happily lived his whole life here.

...no, I understand where you're coming from. I've spoken to a number of people who seem like their circumstances here are better than they were back in their own worlds. I can't really say I envy them, myself.

I can easily see how someone's life here could be better than a particularly bad week or month in their world, and how that would influence their thoughts if they were brought here at that moment. Still, desiring to stay forever away from home is something I could never imagine feeling.

I could possibly understand wanting to accomplish something here before returning home... if any of that actually mattered, that is.

...It might matter to someone here. After all, surely we were brought to this world for a reason.

Well, yes, but that someone isn't me.

True. Barring an extreme change in the way we are brought here and sent back, you could say that your journey means very little. ...But I feel we don't completely lose what we gain here, either.

Perhaps I'd believe in that more strongly if there was any proof it was the case. At least this place is an entertaining diversion, if nothing else.

Being in this world allowed me to recall some long-forgotten memories from another land, nearly twenty years after I'd lost them. This diversion might become of use to you in a few decades, too.

What, really? How does that even work?

I was brought to another world to fight a war, years and years ago. The memories of that time faded away the moment the battle was over, and I spent the next seventeen years at home, recalling nothing of it. Yet when I found myself here and saw some of the friends I'd made at the time, those memories returned.

I suppose a lot of things about this place aren't anything new to you, then, are they? At least in that regard, anyway. It sounds like the other instance gave you a more obvious purpose.

Though, the fact that this world can do things like that has incredibly interesting implications. I guess if it can take away memories of our stay here when we leave, it can easily grant us ones that would otherwise be inaccessible to us.

Our purpose was more obvious, but it also came with a less-than-healthy dose of amnesia and secrets. For all its strangeness, at least Johto has never made me forget my wife or my friends. Mine is not an isolated case, either. About ten of my comrades also recovered memories of that world or memories it took from them during their stay here.

I suppose you can't get out of having some sort of arbitrary secrecy, though that's even worse than this. Granted, I'm sure the amnesia wouldn't be quite as bad until after the fact, but what goes on here seems bad enough...

You all weren't from the same world, then, I presume?

We were not, mostly. Two people were taken from each world represented, and those people were placed on opposite sides of the conflict, without exceptions. Or at least, that is what happened in the cycle I remember. I hear there was more variety during the previous ones.

I see... so, it's just something that's happened multiple times with different people? What was the point of it, anyway? I'd presume that something like that would have some ulterior purpose to it --- after all, those sorts of things usually do.

There was a war between the goddess of harmony and the god of discord. They needed warriors to do their fighting, as Cosmos had no ability for battle and Chaos cared little for it.

...That... does seem to be very typical of gods, doesn't it...? Though, did they have dominion over your respective worlds, or were they just completely unrelated deities?

...You know, I have no idea. It would have been interesting to know, but we were too busy at the time to ask too many questions.
