[Today, Cecil is filming a small group of Pidgeys pecking at the ground and hunting for worms. It's a rather peaceful image, really.]

Route 25 is as far north as Kanto goes, it seems. Yet the same Pidgeys and Bellsprouts that can be found between New Bark and Violet live here. I wonder what makes certain species so widespread, while others can only rarely be found even in their natural habitats?

[Two of the Pidgeys start arguing over a particularly juicy bug. He looks at the scene for a few seconds, before he starts to put the Pokégear away with a few parting words.]

...Eleven out of sixteen. I think I'll aim for Celadon next.

I've heard a few people say it's from a video game. ... Y'know. A work of fiction.

Most said that they were seeing this particular world; a young man even mentioned Saffron City directly. Would that truly count as variations?

Well, I've met people here who are from FAIRY TALES that I was told when I was a kid.

Something tells me that this place being recognizable as a story for some people from other worlds isn't too out of the ordinary.

I've been recognized before, but I've never seen anyone I'd read about. Yet many arrive knowing about Pokémon... Some worlds might be better known than others, such as this one. I wonder why.

Universe's a big place, I guess.

And somehow, people from all its corners still find themselves here. Whatever brought us here must be quite powerful.

... Yeah.

Only if it's sentient enough to have motives. Then again, if it were some sort of powerful Pokémon...

...And therefore sentient enough to regret it, if we offer strong enough arguments.

As gung-ho as I usually am about kicking something's ass until it stops jerking me around, I'm pretty sure going up to whatever's doing this with a shotgun and expecting it to listen isn't an option.

...What if the Pokémon themselves decide to fight this? Not merely the ones we train, but all the wild ones in Johto and Kanto, too?

[If this world cares about anything, it's its Pokémon, after all.]

In case you haven't noticed, the wild ones ALREADY try to fight us.

That's why we have to train our OWN, remember?

I mean for them to fight for us, not against. Surely this situation must also hold disadvantages for them.

Okay, now I'm lost.

Why on earth would a bunch of wild animals try to fight their own world? For a bunch of humans who aren't even from around here?

What disadvantage do they possibly have? It's not like they were yanked from THEIR world!

Would you want a group of strange people appearing every two weeks and trampling your territory, trying to eat you, screaming at you, attacking you...? Surely the situation also troubles them.

It's not like the natives don't do that anyway. It's like... the center of their culture. Minus the trying to eat part.

And besides, what makes you think appearing every two weeks, trampling their territory, trying to eat them, screaming at them, and attacking them will make them want to fight FOR us?

Quite a few of us intend to leave the moment we can. Anything that can help us do so and leave them alone might be worth a truce, at least to some of them. ...Those poor Magikarps must be willing to do much to be rid of us, at least.

You're talking about them like they're people, or like.... a warring faction to make a truce with.

They're not.

They're animals.

They're AWESOME animals, but they're still animals.

Are they, truly? When that wave of fog happened, they deliberately targeted foreigners, sparing locals, and aimed at our weaknesses without restraint. That sounds very little like animal behavior to me.
