[Cecil looks particularly happy today. Is it because of the absence of angry bugs? The arrival of three new castmates? Rosa's presence? All of the above?]

Now that those bugs are gone, I can finally send the eggs I promised. I apologize for the delay. As compensation, I've added a homemade egg pillow to each of the packages.

[Subtly promoting his pillows in hopes of getting clients? You bet.]

However, many of my eggs have not yet found owners. Would anyone be interested? Most of them are Milotics, but I believe one of them is an Eevee. You can either buy them for P1000, or offer another egg as a trade. Contact me if you have any questions.

Also, Cloud, Squall and Zidane will soon each be getting a care package by Pidgey post. Said care package includes three Fresh Waters, three Antidotes, three Pokéballs and one Revive. In addition to that, Squall and Zidane will receive Pokéballs containing Seifer the Gyarados and Marcus the Golem, respectively.]

Eggs? [He is still learning about this place, forgive him.]

Eggs. Nearly all of the species of Pokémon can have them, even the mammals and the rocks. Are you relatively new?

Even the--- [Wut wut. Are you pulling his leg, Cecil?] Uh, yeah, I am. Really new. [He hasn't been here a day and already his head is aching from all these new discoveries.]

Don't worry, it'll soon register as perfectly normal to you. See this egg?

[He points at the Eevee egg.]

The father is an Eevee, which looks like a small brown fox, and the... mother is a Ditto, which looks somewhat like a pink Flan. Pokémon can also breed between species, to some extent.

[... Suspicious staring. Is it really? Really? Maybe it was some sort of other creature's egg, not a dragon-- it was too small, if he remembered right--- but some poor, unfortunate creature who is not furry or flanny.] Just how does that even work?

That's an excellent question, and one I sadly cannot answer. Some arrivals receive breeding material with their packs; perhaps one of them knows the answer to that question.

[Blink. Ah, the pack...

He looks away for a moment, finally looking into the bag he was given. He didn't pay attention to it much before, much too concerned with trying to figure out this place through the Pokégear. Let's see... Is there anything like th--- Aha!]

Huh, so there was something like this in here after all. [And a Trainer Handbook. Well, that solves most questions.]

It seems you have found your temporary calling in life.

[He steps away from the eggs with a last pat.]

Not that it matters much. I've seen trainers breed their Pokémon, and breeders earn Gym badges. There is very little enforced on us here, other than the Pokémon themselves.

... Just what is here anyway? [He'll just go skim through the Trainer Handbook first.] It's not any place I've seen or heard of before.

We merely know that the region is named Johto, and that some of our fellow outworlders had knowledge of the local Pokémon prior to their arrival. No one knows which planet or world this is, and no one had visited it before.

So it's a place people know exist but have never been to before? [Weird. He's taking everything with a grain of salt, but it couldn't hurt to know he supposed.] I'm guessing no one knows why we're here either, huh?

None of the locals have given us a satisfactory answer. It appears they do not know either.

So we just ended up here without explanation. [He rubs the back of his neck at that, sighing. Well, so much for trying to find things out. This wasn't exactly what he was expecting when...] Err, right. I'm Ted, what's your name?

My name is Cecil. Cecil Harvey. [He bows elegantly.] It is a pleasure to meet you, Ted. I hope you'll not find Johto too overwhelming.

Right back at you. [A pause, and uh...] Thanks, but that's a little too late, I figure.

It gets... not quite better, but easier to accept, after a few weeks.

Don't most things? [He tries to at least make it sound like it doesn't bother him that much. It does, but he'll get over it.] Mind if I ask how long you've been here, Cecil?

Seven months and a half, and I was far from the first to arrive.

[He's had more than enough time to accept it all. And get tired of it. And accept it all over again.]

You mean there are others who have been here longer?

One of my friends arrived here three months before I did. There are many others who also arrived before me.

... Does anyone know the history of this place, at least? Maybe it could give ideas as to why we got here in the first place.

We know very little, other than Ecruteak's legends. There are ruins and historical monuments, but no records that we can access.

Ecruteak's legends?

Yes, there is one in particular...

[He starts rummaging through his belongings, and finally returns with a piece of paper.]

"Years and years ago, there were two towers in Ecruteak. But one day, the western tower was hit by lightning and burned until the rain extinguished it, killing three Pokémon. So a rainbow-colored Pokémon descended from the eastern tower and revived the three, before leaving for lands unknown."

[He puts the paper down.]

I'm merely paraphrasing, obviously. But that is the gist of it.

[Huh.] That's a pretty interesting legend. [Not one he's heard of, at least.] Did they ever figure out just what kind of pokémon they're talking about?
