Everyone, good evening. I hope this day finds you in good health.

However, this is not a social call but an inquiry. Does anyone intend to leave Cherrygrove for Violet soon? I have offered to escort a few people there, and I was wondering if anyone would like to join us. Having access to a Pokémon large enough to ride would be optimal, but we can share if it comes down to it. We would depart tomorrow morning. I hadn't really thought about it. I can't imagine it would be just a normal weapon,though.

A particularly sharp and painful one, perhaps? Or perhaps it would inflict wounds that merely take much longer to heal. Or it might not even be affected, which could be why our weapons were taken away in the first place.

I don't really know. It must have taken a powerful magic to bring us all here and give human forms to those of us without them. That kind of magecraft must be powerful enough to affect a cursed lance.

It had to be within the power of whatever brought us here to let us keep our weapons. So why take them?

And in such varied ways, too. Some merely lost abilities, others found themselves with changed body parts, but a few ended up with completely different bodies. Those would need different kinds of spells, probably multiple ones.

To force us to depend on our Pokémon? To help us 'fit' with the natives? They have no weapons either.

For me, having a body like this should be beyond impossible. Only sorcery on the level of a miracle could do things like this.

Neither, if you want to be specific. I was summoned by a magic-user after my death; not quite dead, but not exactly alive either. Either way, I'm not what you'd call human.

Figures. Whoever it is must have some really screwed up reasoning.

...That sounds like His Majesty's fate. After his death, he became an Eidolon, able to be summoned by those he finds worthy. But Eidolons can have physical bodies, if they wish it.

Or a plan that does not includes sharing their knowledge with us.

Never heard of an Eidolon. I'm a Servant; there's seven of us total. Eight, counting an extra idiot that stuck around too long after he was summoned.

Whoever they are, they have to be an incredibly powerful magus of some kind. All this stuff about parallel worlds...that's part of a kind of magic on par with a miracle. That's...the Second Magic, if I remember right.

Magic that deals with others worlds is far beyond anything the people of my world can do, but... Seventeen years ago, I found myself in a world that was made of fragments from other lands. But back then, people were'nt the only ones dragged there.

Fragments...? What do you mean, exactly?

Parts of a castle, the ruins of a temple, a section of the moon, a few rocks from beneath the planet... Imcomplete places, bound together through an unknown power. You couldn't find something like a whole city there.

...huh. Who could create a world like that?

A god of disorder willing to do anything to win against the goddess of harmony. Those pieces of worlds were dangerous, and far from stable.

Gods and goddesses can be pretty troublesome like that.

But I've never heard of one creating something like that before.

Does it count as creating if all he did was rip worlds apart and throw the remains together? ...Not that he did not intend to also crush those remains.

Still, that's pretty unbelievable. ...No, maybe 'surprising' is the better word for that. I can believe a god would be capable of that, but acting on that capability is something else entirely.

...Chaos was a strange god. He fought against Cosmos for ages, he even killed her... Yet he seemed to have lost the will to exist after, to the point that he held back some of his strength when he fought us. I doubt I'll ever understand his way of thinking.

Chaos and Cosmos? Never heard of them.

...It makes sense to me. If you have a rival for that long, you focus so much time and energy on defeating them, right? So when you do beat them...what then? What do you do when you surpass your reason for training and improving yourself?

He probably didn't know the answer to that question.

Defeating your rival once does not make you the strongest. They can also train more and surpass you once again, unless you defeated them through death. Seeing what they will do to become stronger than you is half the thrill of a rivalry.

...Then again, my rival is my best friend. Rivals who are also enemies might feel differently.

That's what I mean, though. If you did kill them, you might not know what to do with yourself. Unless you realized the right way to react is to go right out and find someone else worthy of being your rival.

Who could rival a god, other than another god? Those two were the only ones we saw.

No two rivals feel the same for their opponent, probably. We might see a general tendancy, at best.

There can't just be two in your world, can there? That seems pretty strange.

You're right. It's impossible to really generalize a relationship that can vary so much. I'm just going by what I know to be truth.

If there are others, they never interfered in the war. They might simply not care about the worlds' existences.

Do you have a strong rival, then?

Yeah, that sounds kind of typical.
