11th moon [Whatever, it's 4th wall time]

[So. Cecil woke up thanks to a strange flash of light, only to find an unknown Pokémon in his room.  How did he react? Why, by inviting it to a picnic and making as many sandwiches as he could, of course!

Well, actually he blinked, froze, stared, almost shouted, decided against it, reached for his sword, remembered he didn't have his sword, cursed his lack of a sword, realized the monster was still there, stared some more, asked if said monster was hoping to eat him, felt quite relieved when it shook its head, stood up, looked outside, saw all the strange people and Pokémon in the street, decided he was hallucinating, woke his Pokémon up, got dressed, smiled, and finally decided to invite the amused Pokémon to a picnic. But who cares about the details?]

And here we were, wondering what would happen this month. At least the colors are not eye-searing, this time. Would you like another ham and lettuce sandwich, Miss Cresselia?

All I want is to defeat the Darkness inside of me. Even if it takes an entire lifetime, I'll not stop trying until I've conquered it...

You and Rosa have one another... I'm sure you'll be fine in my absence.

Having one another does not stop us from missing you. Best friends and spouses fill different holes in people's hearts, you know.

Far from it. We became used to your absence, at best. But it brought happiness to no one in Baron.

The citizens often ask us if we've received any news from you, when we visit the town. The potential dragoons in particular seem quite saddened by your absence.

[Kain seems a bit surprised by all of this. Especially that people preparing to be dragoons are somehow looking up to him. Surely he's not that great.]

They... don't regard me as a traitor?

Of course not. ...They mostly blame Golbez, since none of them saw Zeromus. But they hold nothing against you.

Yet I'm as much at fault as Golbez.

Neither of you are at fault, but the people find it hard to blame an enemy they've never seen. Golbez is merely a convenient target and a symbol. In fact, most Baronians consider you a symbol of the lives ruined by the war. Their well wishes are always with you, because of that.

I never would have thought... All this time I'd assumed they would label me a traitor.

[But of course even Kain is aware that his so-called exile is... entirely self-imposed. It always has been.]

Regardless, I don't deserve their... their sympathy.

That's all too true. She had to deal with us growing up, it's no wonder she's so stubborn...
