95th moon [we're all walled in]

[One tiny and sad advantage to having gone through this whole circus eight times is that at some point, nothing can surprise you anymore. Not even waking up on a park bench in Goldenrod with a Goldeen in your arms, a Magikarp tangled in your hair and a Finneon almost kissing you.

...Okay, so maybe that particular situation does surprise Cecil a little. Juste a little.

But certainly not enough to stop him from taking care of his weekly grocery shopping at the Department Store. Even if he's still wearing his pyjamas, his hair is messy, his make-up is nowhere to be seen and he has three fish in his shopping basket. He doesn't care about such silly details.

He does, however, care enough to greet the poor confused or not-so-confused people that surround him. The local biannual madness is no reason to be rude, after all.]

Yet I seem to recall I always move much too light on my feet to be struck as often as yourself... but we all can't be dragoons, unfortunately.

Fortunately, you mean. Baron needs grounded leaders, after all. People who'll stay home and repair its war wounds, instead of jumping off to parts unknown.

More time than even I had imagined, believe me. I intended from the start to return, but... I had no idea how long it would take.

Any battle or monster, perhaps. But any illness? Any accident?

I'm certain I can battle off any infections that should come my way, and walk off any accidents just as well.

[But man there is a hint of unsureness underneath all of that.]

...With the help of a healthy cache of medicine and healing items, I hope?

[Because if Kain doesn't maintain a full inventory, he'll be very sad.]

Do you doubt my ability to keep well supplied?

I doubt Mt. Ordeals' ability to grow proper shops overnight.

I've managed to survive for several months now...

[Well, ok supply runs are a thing at times, though probably not as often as he really ought to.]

And you will keep doing so for many years. But surely potions and remedies are scarce even at the best of times?

They can be at times. I've learned how to best conserve my supplies though. I only restock when I absolutely must.

...I'm sure your definition of 'must' is one of the strictest in the world.

Of course it is. The absolute strictest.

As long as it does not leave you without potions or antidotes for too long...

I promise you, I always find some way to manage no matter how many supplies I might have left.

Good. Otherwise, Rosa and I might need to visit you, whether you wish to see us or not.

You don't need to trouble yourselves. I promise...

[Kain pauses a moment and hesitates.]

I trust she's been well?

She has, barring a few minors illnesses and half a day of pushing. The people of Baron love her more and more every day.

Which is as it should be... there's no one more deserving of the role of queen.
