Two complete years spent in this world.

[Cecil's Gear must be held by one of his Pokémon, because the man himself is sitting on a chair, his back bent and facing away.]

Two sets of badges obtained...

[Normally he'd show off said badges at this point. This time, his hands come up with bandages instead, as his back straightens and he rises for the first time in two months.]

...and two legs working perfectly again, all as of today. It looks like I've found my lucky number. Perhaps I should try my hand at the lottery?

Only if you wish it. They have weaker teams for less experienced trainers.

Undoubtedly. Of Johto's Gym leaders, he's by far the weakest.

Every single one of them. I even defeated all of Kanto's Elite team, which admittedly took a lot of work. ...Then again, I did find Falkner to be the most difficult at the time.

I could hardly say that without knowing Red's level, but I can already tell you that all I obtained was the last badge and the satisfaction of having completed the challenge.

[He had a bug and a ghost and an underlevelled Clefairy, of course Falkner was hard.]

A mountain between Ecruteak and Mahogany. It looks quite impressive, but since the road next to it can be crossed in barely a day, few bother to visit. I only stayed there an afternoon.

It must be. Who knows what sorts of Pokémon live there, what else could be found?

Pro'lly some real tough pokemon - like dinosaur-types or ghosts!

That's right. Though there must be a few that would not have that quadruple weakness to both Water- and Grass-types...

Yeah! Most old guys are pretty stuffy when they get up in years. My old man was the exception.

Quadruple weakness? What's that about? [He hasn't been in too many battles. ...This sort of talk was encouraging.]

Onix is both a Rock- and a Ground-type Pokémon. Since both of those types have a double weakness to Grass and Water, it ends up with a quadruple weakness.

How's ground weak to grass? I get that rocks and dirt can get... eroded? So what's a plant gonna do to the ground?

...Drain all of its nutrients?

. . . Dirt has nutrients?

For plants, probably? They do grow there.

So it doesn't all come from fertilizer... Okay so grass-types suck the nutrients from ground-types. But what about grass and water types?
