You'd think that after a year and seven months, the locals would be unable to surprise me anymore.

[This strange introduction comes with the image of an innocent-looking house. An innocent-looking house that has a pond and fences blocking its door, in fact. Rosie the Clefable is standing in front of it; every so often, she pokes the water's surface with curiosity.]

Necessitating either Surf or Fly to leave your house cannot possibly be practical. What if your Water- and Flying-types are ill? What if you have guests? What if your children wish to go play with friends? I doubt it's even sufficient to stop... thieves...

[He trails off as he stares in horror at the pond. Even Rosie stops touching the water and joins him in staring. Of course, that could be because of the slimy purple limb that just grabbed her arm.]

...Having Grimers in your water cannot be healthy. Goodness.

[He turns the Gear off, now. His little girl needs rescuing.]

You have my sympathy. I could go anywhere in Cherrygrove with my eyes closed, by this point.

Let me guess, you either had to backtrack a lot or you're stuck there for a while?

My first travelling group slowly grew over a period of two months. Other then one small trip, we never bothered to actually leave the city. And by the time we finally moved, some of us were disappearing.

...I see.

[He's going to give a nod at that.]

It was a shame, truly. Most of them were not suited to small cities.

In any case, they should be safe at home, so at the very least there's that.

At home and healthy and getting into all sorts of trouble, indoubtedly.

[He sounds so very fond of them for a moment.]

Heh, they were a rowdy bunch, huh?

[There was no doubt that Cecil missed them, but he's not going to point that out.]

Mostly young and heroic, though there was some rowdiness there. There's no better combination for attracting all sorts of incidents.

Its always the heroic types that gets into trouble in stories.

[And... Shinn's not the heroic type, really.]

And they were all very good at that part.

[So is Cecil, really, but he did have his seventeen years of peace.]

Heh, must've been interesting traveling with them.

[At the very least, Cecil's time as a Dark Knight was not as bad as Shinn's time in the army orz.]

It was, especially in a world where none of us needed to fight for our lives.

[The bad times were shorter, at least. But still, two villages attacked...]
