A year, to the day. That's more than acceptable for the first part of an adventure. Or perhaps I should say that obtaining this last badge is an excellent way to celebrate my first year in this world?

[Cecil's hand finally closes around the badge, and he brings the Pokégear up to look at the sky instead.]

Would anyone know why the professor cal- No, nevermind. It's not important at the moment. Badges and anniversaries should both be celebrated. If anyone in Blackthorn wishes to join me, I'll pay for the meal and drinks.

[At a very nice restaurant, too. Let it not be said that he does not have taste.]

We had objects with similar effects, in my world. If I had any here, I'd sell them.

Oh? What sort of artifact would that be?

Hourglasses that can slow or stop a person's time, and shoes that can hasten it. They replicate the effects of certains spells.

A world that tampers with time. That's quite audacious.

They can be extremely useful, when facing particularly powerful monsters.

You sound as though that's commonplace.

It is, unless you choose to ride chocobos to travel. Monsters are as common in my world as they are here.

Mm, are there also animals? Or do monsters simply dominate the ecosystem?

Animals exist, but in much smaller numbers than the monsters. Then again, how would we know if 'monsters' and 'animals' have the same definition in our worlds?

Fair point. Though if you think about it that way-- taking into account languages between worlds, this conversation we're having is nothing short of a miracle.

...Indeed. Many languages must be represented here. How can we all understand each other?

Not at all, unless we are all secretly communicating by telepathy.
