[The feed first shows a messy room, where a disheveled white-haired man sits at a table and writes furiously. He is surrounded by trinkets of all sorts and books on various subjects, and he does not appear to realize that someone is using his Pokégear.

The camera then turns toward the ground, where a Bayleef is delicately placing a Fire Stone. The Pokégear is placed in front of it, and a Clefairy looks at it for a few seconds before nodding at an unseen Pokémon. Said Pokémon enters the picture, looking at the Fire Stone for a few seconds before touching it. It makes him glow brightly.]

What the- Flare?

[But by the time Cecil turns around and comes closer, Flare the Growlithe is no more. Instead, Flare the Arcanine stands proudly, dwarfing the rest of the Pokémon in the room. He howls once, twice, before walking up to his trainer and licking his face gently.]

...Thank you...

[The feed times out a few minutes later.]

[Someone who is not familiar with evolution? Must be a newcomer.]

That was an evolution. Most Pokémon can evolve into different ones under specific circumstances. Some evolve after reaching a certain level; a few do so by touching special stones; others change if they feel stable happiness for some time. There might be other methods, but those are the ones I've seen. This was a stone-based evolution. I only needed to buy a Fire Stone from the Goldenrod Department Store, and from that moment Flare could have evolved at any time simply by touching it.

Oh.. I see. I guess that makes sense, all living things change after a while so it's only natural.. Still, don't you think the jump is a little strange? I'd expect minute gradual changes, but.. Wow. That was just alarming.

The first evolution I saw was a red fish becoming a gigantic water dragon. Alarming was a good word for that.

Cecil, huh? How long have you been in Johto? I just got here fairly recently, as you can probably tell.

I've been here four months and a half. Did you arrive here at the end of December or the beginning of January?

Well, when I first checked the calender, it was late December. Which is weird, because last I remember before coming here was it being mid-spring or so.

This world does not care much about time or space. I arrived here at the end of August even though it was Spring at home, and some of my friends come from seventeen years ago. It can become rather confusing at times.

Yeah.. It's all pretty messed up, I don't even know how we're gonna get back to our respective worlds.. And when we do, will it just drop us back to when we disappeared? Or will that be random too?

We return to the moment we left. A few people have disappeared and returned with their memories intact, so we know that much.

There could be. As far as I know, no reason has been given for our presence. It could be part of a greater plan, or even a disagreement between two forces.
