[Many objects are piling up in front of the Pokégear: food reserves, drinks, Potions of all kinds, enough Ice Heals to last a month, Pokéballs... Could someone be insane enough to brave the tempest?]

Squall, Suzuki, I'm leaving for Goldenrod; I need to buy a few items. Would you like me to bring you back anything? Oh, and Squall, a young lady was looking for you.

[Rosie appears, bearing a few Escape Ropes. She dumps them next to the pile before looking around for gloves.]

I'll try to defeat the Gym leader during my stay. Light, Firion, Bartz, Zidane, Miss Lenna, we could meet up at the Sudowoodo after that.

[But already he's paying more attention to his supplies than to his Pokégear. Avenger sighs and turns it off.]

Then again, we don't know where the starter Pokémon come from. If they were bred in captivity, they would not have any instincts to speak of. Of course, wild Pokémon have no excuse, other than bad influences.

You know, I've always did wonder where our starters came from because I don't remember anyone handing Chansey to me. I woke up with her by my side when I arrived to Johto. Hmmm, I really do wonder if our starters have ever been wild or bred?

The sheer number of starters given away implies that they have a stable source, especially for those we have not yet found in the wild. The Pidgey might come from route 29, but I've never seen any of Rosie's relatives.

Eevees and Dratinis are the types of pokemon that are unavailable in the wild, so you're right about that. The only Chanseys and Blisseys I've seen are at the Pokemon Centers working along with the Nurse Joy. I'm sure we'll find a route, cave, forest, or town where our starters are usually found if we keep moving forward.

[He nods.] That's what happened with the Growlithes. I'd only seen them with trainers; as a matter of fact, I'd never seen a wild Fire-type. But then I ended up near Ecruteak, and there were Growlithes and Vulpix everywhere.

Huh? Really? All the Growlithes and Vulpix are over in Ecruteak? What about Houndours? Did you see any?

Not a single one. Those two were the only Fire-types around. But they might live closer to Olivine. I didn't go that far.

Then, I'll have to go to Olivine. You see, I really want to find a suitable mate for Mosey. It would be cute to have Houndour eggs all over the place.

Finding him a mate of his species would be best. A compatible female of another species would lay eggs of her own kind, if I remember well. But does Mosey want a ladyfriend?

That's right! Houndours are really great pokemon, so I want there to be more in Johto. [At the question, Mosey will poke his head and bark as a confirmation that he did.] I asked him about the idea of breeding before deciding to find a suitable mate for him. He agreed to the idea rather quickly.

In that case, I'll keep an eye out for the future Mrs. Mosey. She has to be somewhere out there, looking for love herself.

[She laughs softly and nods her head.]

Thank you, Cecil. Mosey and I would appreciate all the help we can get. [Glances to Mosey.] Right?

[Mosey will bark in agreement over here.]

It's no trouble. But you'll have to treat her well, young man. Breaking a lady's heart is the cruelest thing a man can do.

Did you hear that, Mosey? Cecil won't help us if you break her heart. I hope your trainer's bad habit hasn't rubbed off on you.

[Mosey will only look at Aerith with a curious tilt. When did his master ever had that habit? He remembers his trainer was pratically nervous around her and any other girl, so he finds it weird to imagine Cloud as a lady's man. He will turn to Cecil and bark twice. No, he isn't going to break any hearts. He wouldn't do such a thing.]

Good boy. [He laughs.] Oh? Has Cloud broken any hearts before he left? I'll have to give him a stern talking-to, then.

[Aerith stays a bit quiet at the question. Mosey will notice the look she had on her face which he starts to whine a bit. She will look at Mosey and give him a smile.]

Don't worry, Mosey, I'm okay. I was just...looking back. [She will pet Mosey's head before turning to Cecil.] You can say that. I know for a fact that someone was searching for him back in my world, but he didn't want her or anyone to find him. The first Cloud that came to this world was really different than the Cloud I know, but....I have a feeling he must have attracted a lot of girls. He seemed like the type...

...Cloud is always serious, and he doesn't talk a lot, and he doesn't show much affection outwardly. But I can't imagine him, or even another him, deliberately avoiding a friend. Did something happen between them?

Doesn't sound a lot like the first Cloud who came here. However, he did inwardly complain when I dragged him around Violet City monthes ago. [She can't help giggle which will get a blush out of Mosey. Why couldn't you forget about that day, Aerith? When Cecil asked his question about Cloud, she gets quiet, again. It was obvious she was debating over telling him or not. Shaking her head softly, she will say:] It's nothing like that. Or at least, it isn't. I've only sensed the presense of the girl, but I have never met or seen her before. I don't know the details, but...it's obvious Cloud is avoiding her as a way to protect her and himself. My Cloud has a few...issues to overcome on his own. All I can do is cheer him on and wait for him to come back. He promised he'd return back home once everything was settled.

Pushing away loved ones never works. You feel bad, they feel bad, and then they sneak into the spaceship and travel with you anyway. I hope she'll find him, and drag him back to see you, if he takes too long. He sounds like he needs a good scolding.

I know, but I still have faith in Cloud. He asked me not to follow him or get involved, so I will do as he says. I believe Cloud needs to find the solution to the problem on his own. If he can't do it, then he won't be able to face himself, so sooner or later he will break and won't be able to repair himself again. So, I will let him figure things out on his own, but don't worry....he will get a good scolding once he returns; especially if he returns empty handed.

I guess we really can't help them directly, sometimes. People always insist on finding the answers on their own. It's good that you have faith in him, though. With that kind of support, the answer might come to him more easily.

...I hope you won't have to wait as long as I have. There are two people back home I'll have to scold for days.
