12th moon [video/action for Burned Tower]

Well, I've finally found a building of historical and mythical significance.

[The video is somewhat dark, but Cecil can be seen, looking attentively at the walls.]

I was unable to visit the matching tower, sadly. But the associated legend is rather interesting. One Pokémon reviving three others... That would take more than the equivalent of a Phoenix Down. Or of a Raise spell.

[He takes a Revive from his pocket and shows it to the camera.]

I also managed to find a few items between all the rocks. Hidden objects and capsules that serve as treasure chests; it almost feels like home. Has anyone found interesting objects on the road?

Maybe lightning storms are a mark of high activity of demons or something like that.

Or perhaps thay are caused by Electric Pokémon? Rain could come from Water-types, snow from Ice-types...

That would take an extremely powerful pokemon to have that large an effect upon an area, especially to generate enough power to kill other pokemon.

What about multiple weaker Pokémon? If they worked as a team...

That is a possibility as well. Still, the legend says that there was only one pokemon needed to resurrect the three that died, so one very powerful pokemon causing a storm does not seem so far-fetched.

One Pokémon that presides over life, one that presides over storms... It sounds like some of the old beliefs, the ones with multiple nature gods. It even sounds like the Eidolons somewhat.

Eidolons?

Spirits, generally elemental in nature, that can be summoned in combat. But most of the summoner bloodlines have died out. [Because Cecil killed most of them. Not mentioning that detail.] They play much the same role as Pokémon do.

I'm not sure I really understand. How do you summon spirits? Is it like a ritual or magic?

Summoning is a school of magic. Pacts are made between the summoner and the Eidolon, who moves from the Feymarch to the surface when called upon. I would like to explain it in more detail, but summoning knowledge is mostly limited to the village of Mist, and magical theory was never my strength.

The Druids were supposed to have practices similar to what you describe. They existed before my time, so most of what I know of them is probably misinformation.

Summoning normally involves some sort of sacrifice in the old stories. Do you think that pokemon are created through such practices?

Not the Pokémon themselves. [He sounds quite sure about that.] We already know they reproduce by eggs. But none of us have found out where all those species come from. There might be some unethical methods involved when giving rocks functional eyes.

They remind me of golems from the old legends, hulking monsters with little loyalty than to their assigned tasks.

At least all Pokémon have their own personalities. This implies that they have developped normally as individuals, whatever their origin is.

Maybe pokemon are like lost souls, taking forms that make sense to them, and we have been brought here to lead them to salvation and visa versa.

We could always ask. Rosie, do you feel like a lost soul?

...They might or might not be lost souls, but they are souls who want to leave this boring old tower. That's a start.

At the very least, I should bring her somewhere sunny before she decides to throw bats at me.

They're poisonous, though, aren't they?

Yeah, bats aren't the best things to have thrown in your direction. They're rather testy creatures.

They are, but this one didn't poison me. [He'd be able to tell, darn those Malboros.]

And their fangs can be quite sharp.

They're such creepy things. I really wish they'd go away and leave travelers alone, but, no, Hell just has to be difficult like that.

No offense, but I don't think I would like it very much where you come from.

The monsters are quite charming, once you get used to them.

Maybe, maybe not; charming monsters seems a bit like an oxymoron.
