...After many hours of pondering, I have come to the conclusion that my Pokémon wish to express their displeasure at being excluded from the New Year's festivities.

[He likely got that impression from the large pile of eggs that be seen behind him. The structure looks horrifyingly unstable, and the young shiny Vulpix trying to use it as her playground does not help.]

But they've generously done so in a manner that benefits you all. The eggs cost P1000 each, barring the Caterpies and Magikarps which are half that price. All are likely to hatch knowing at least one or two additional attacks, as Gogo's efforts to court Firaga have left it too busy to participate. I offer swift deliveries, and I can add a handmade egg pillow to any order if you request it. Please do not hesitate to buy as many eggs as you can hold.

A large part of it, if I remember correctly. Not everyone that arrives is well-intentioned, even in such extraordinary. Thankfully, the culprit is long gone.

That's good. Makes sense that she wouldn't want to talk to anyone much after that, though.

Not that she was particularly welcoming when I first arrived, but it certainly cannot have helped. Luckily for her, the most unpleasant arrivals tend to become part of Team Rocket, and have no reason to approach her.

Team Rocket...who are they?

A criminal organization that regularly attacks Johto and Kanto. They steal Pokémon, cause explosions near landmarks, animate piles of trash to inconvenience others, attack legendary Pokémon... A large number of them are unpleasant people.

[Not all, he knows, especially since anyone can be drafted in their ranks. But many.]

So is there anything being done to stop them? I assume this place has some sort of...police force for that sort of thing.

The officers do their best, even if their best is rarely much. And there is no shortage of trainers and breeders who are will to fight back when attacks occur, whether they are organized or not.

[Whether the attacks are organized or not. Whether the fighters are organized or not.]

[So the police aren't all that effective, yet at the same time it seems like there are vigilante types willing to take up the helm...]

That sounds dangerous, though. I'm surprised so many people are willing to fight...they could get really hurt.

Sometimes they do. There were hospital stays and poisonings for some, though it's not happened in the last year as far as I know. But luckily, most of the fighting is done with the help of Pokémon.

Speading the bulk of their training over years helps greatly. So does having a reliable starter who can watch the younger ones.

I doubt it. They've acted much the same for the last four years, and between those who leave and those who arrive... It's difficult for them to truly learn their lesson, I imagine.
