Would someone in the vicinity of Celadon kindly help us? This child wishes to face the new year as a grown Pokémon, and a temporary trade is necessary for that.

[The child in question being the Phantump snoozing on Cecil's lap when the video starts, a small smile on its face. Cecil himself is mostly out of view, with only a part of his torso and his hands petting the sleeping tree displayed.]

I would also like to invite anyone who wishes to accelerate their egg's hatching to visit my home. Between my Volcarona and my Chandelure, we can cut the necessary time by half, at the very least. And it's never too early for playdates.

[The Phantump chooses that moment to stir, earning a gentle unseen smile from Cecil as he turns the Pokégear off.]

Because it's a text message and it's sent throw radio waves or something. And since radio waves are in their air they... Uhm... y'know they just travel like that.

[How does he explain something even he doesn't understand...]

Perhaps sending multiple copies to ensure that one reaches its destination would be more efficient, but that'd not work with a Pokémon.

You're right about that... Hey, I don't want your kid to get lost or anything - and I definitely don't want that happening to my guys. How about I get a Nurse? They seem to know a lot about stuff like this.

Perhaps that would be for the best. Surely they've heard stranger questions, especially from others who are not native to this world.

[He hangs up in a hurry, anxious to stat this little project as soon as possible. Luckily, Rin isn't too far from a Center or a Nurse. He briefly poses his question in as few words as possible. Nurse Joy gladly explains the entire process to him and even offers some friendly advice towards trading etiquette. All in all, it takes a little more than half an hour for Rin to properly return the call.]

[The swiftness of Rin's return is a pleasant surprise for Cecil. Surely it's a sign that the whole process is not nearly as complicated as he feared?]

Sure did! 'Parently, it's the same as short distance trading. We --

[Rin begins his explanation. He gestures as wildly as possible and for a moment it doesn't really seem as if he's talking about Pokemon trading at all. It doesn't seem possible for one person to be that excited about the way a Pokemon is teleported from one location to the other, no matter the distance.

Aw, but maybe he's a little too starry eyed about the whole thing. He catches himself mid-sentence and laughs awkwardly.]

-- but yeah, uhm, it's no biggie. Point is, they'll be fine.

[Now now, there was no need to stop there, if the way Cecil's smile keeps widening as Rin gets more excited is any indication.]

I'm quite convinced of that, now. This world truly has some wonderful technology, does it not?

Fo' real! Imagine if we get to travel like that one day!

[It's an exciting idea! Once he trades a pokemon over, he's going to ask it as many questions as he can think of about teleportation travel!]

It'd be nice to be able to travel so quickly without using the energy necessary for a Teleport spell, or without being in the towers of Zot or Babil, yes. Especially over such a long range.

[Even if he's not sure he'd fit inside a PC.]

[Rin, you have a half-brother who can travel through dimensions and control time WHY IS THIS SURPRISING.]

I do, though it's not particularly powerful. Magic never was my strong point; all of my relatives have a much greater talent for it.

[He doesn't sound particularly bothered by that, though.]

Could you teach me one day?

[Like one of those crazy days when people got back their powers and everything????????????????????????????]

I've never attempted to teach anyone magic before, but I can try. If I can regain my magic, of course.

[But would three days be enough with such an inexperienced teacher?]

I'd suggest not thanking me until we achieve results. I've never tried to explain spells to anyone before, after all.

[His team would be most happy with that particular trade.]

Right, right~. Let's hope you can anyway! I'd never be late to school again if I could do that! I won't even have to travel all over!

That'll depend on the distance between your home and your school. Teleport has a range, and-

[And little Child suddenly has a sneezing fit on Cecil's lap. He comes so close to falling off that Cecil has to hold him there.]

That's the one indeed. I'll miss being able to hold him like this, once he evolves.
