To be fair, even my own world has little information on artificial falling moons that can corrode any type of soil.

We were looking for the moon's core, before I found myself here. Whatever is moving it must be hidden there. Or so we hoped.

That'd make sense. And if it's being moved using magic from somewhere else, there should be some kind of trace you can follow, right?

A trace, or at least some some of receptor or amplifier. Even the strongest Lunarians are not quite powerful enough to move a whole moon, as far as I know.
