Would you all mind telling me what is your favorite technical machine, and why you favor it? I swear I'll not use that information against you should we ever meet in battle.

[Using it for future Christmas present ideas is completely fair game, though.]

I'll be happy to offer TM recommendations in return, of course. Goodness knows I've tried plenty.

Ahh, can't really say I had much choice... I'm kind of an orphan, so it was do what the nobles said or die, pretty much.

That's an overly harsh system, if you ask me. I mean, His Majesty had goals for me in mind, but he'd not have killed me over their completion. Why should your world's nobles have such power?

Corruption, mostly. Ahh, Sion fixed a lot of that when he became king though.

That must have taken so much time and energy to improve... I shudder to think about it.

The only good thing about his work-a-holic idiot nature is that if anyone has the energy for that, it's him.

It might still take a toll on him if he's not well-supported, however.

Well, that's why I'm there.

Even if he's an asshole who seriously needs to take a break sometimes.

Luckily, this world offers plenty of distractions for the work-minded. It's merely a shame you cannot bring them back with you.

Yeah. ...I'm hoping someone finds a way and shares it, someday.

That would be nice. It's been some time since we made any progress in that direction.

Yeah. Kind of hard to when there isn't really a reliable way to go back and forth.

At this point, I'd accept one that is barely more reliable than what we currently have.

Not that it's hard to be better than what we've got...

Oh, I've no doubt it would still be easy to be worse. By deliberately sending home those who most wish to stay and the opposite, perhaps.

...True, there is that. Random is a little better than the opposite of what you want.

It shows fairness and a lack of malice, if nothing else.

A lack of actually trying to make us miserable, anyway. Dunno about fairness, but then, life isn't fair...

Which is not quite the sort of life lesson you'd expect such a world to teach.

There's a lot about this world that goes against what you'd expect.

True. At this point, it's practically part of its charms.

That's a good way to put it.
