"Celebi is an extremely playful species. Its main ability is the power to travel through time." Or so the Professor said.
[Today's quote should sound quite familiar to anyone who watched last week's EV NEWS. So should the Cele-Berry Meringue waiting in front of the Gear, for that matter. Homemade and fresh, thank you very much.]
Bringing back a spring snow after weeks of summer heat matches both sentences perfectly, if you ask me. Has anyone thought to look for legendary Pokémon around their garden today?
[Not that Cecil himself has, of course. Nope.]

[Remember that conversation you once had with him about aging in Johto, Cecil? Looks like John has more information about that whole skipping phenomenon.]
Isn't Celebi part grass though? Wouldn't the snow outside make it want to stay in... wherever a wild legendary Pokémon goes to hide. A cave or something, maybe?
Nice meringue, by the way. Was it as easy to make as Mom's recipe made it look?

[...Waiiiiit. Hang on a second. He stares at the feed for a short moment.]
...That's quite the impressive growth spurt you've had.
video;
[He laughs a little.]
Anyway, Celebi is a forest spirit so I thought it was part grass. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Though as a prankster myself, I can say that you have a point. Sometimes the look on someone's face is really just the most important thing and damn the penalties.
video;
[He's kinda glad he hasn't though.]
As a creature that can influence time, it might even be able to limit the effects of its powers around itself. That way it could see our reactions without even risking the penalties in the first place.
video;
But maybe. I can't say I really understand all the logistics of time powers. My friends Dave and Aradia would better be able to answer that sort of thing. But I wouldn't be surprised if Celebi has its ways of being tricksy like that. Legendary and all.
video;
[He'd rather not imagine it, really.]
I could always ask Aradia about her theories the next time I speak with her. But I suspect a Pokémon's mastery over time magic would differ from the powers any of us would know.
video;
[John doesn't want to either. It was bad enough going through it back home.]
It's possible. But either way, I think somebody with a better grasp on some of the more intricate nuances of time travel and control might be able to shed more light on it. Even if it is a different process.
video;
[He doesn't think that's the case, but you never know.]
They could tell us what should be impossible if one wants to keep the fabric of time and space from collapsing, if nothing else.
video;
[Nature what were you thinking when you made puberty a thing.]
Yes, exactly! Because when you get right down to it, the essence of the thing should be the same. It's just how the concept is used that differs. But there can be lots of variation from a single starting base! Hell, even Dave and Aradia do their time junk differently. I don't know exactly HOW but I do know it's different.
video;
['My creations don't suffer nearly enough. How do I make it worse?']
And we have no way of knowing what variation Celebi uses, or even if that's the only variation found in this world. How tricky.
video;
[Basically. Nature, thou art a heartless bitch.]
I wonder if Celebi will ever show up. You know, like how the beasts did that one time. And those uh... golem things.
video;
[And/or be physically impossible, in certain cases.]
Should it decide to do so, I'd appreciate a pleasant and playful visit, for once.

But I'm sure it doesn't help that people like Team Rocket are always trying to get their hands on them either. I would be surprised if they are the only ones, especially if the Pokémon have been around for years like the legends say.
video;
But would they not seek worthy trainers for themselves, like other Pokémon do? I can understand why they'd refuse Team Rocket, but they must surely have met talented young people over the years.
video;
[It's funny how words can do that.]
Maybe! I mean isn't that the whole reason why Ho-oh left its tower? To search the world for a pure-hearted trainer?
video;
[Or... psychic-ed to death?]
That was over a hundred years ago. How can it not have found one by now?
video;
Ah, sorry um. Yeah, it could have been. But I guess we will never know one way or the other unless we build a time machine or somebody manages to befriend Celebi or something. Because you would have to be there to see.
And maybe Ho-oh just has really, really high standards. I mean how long was the sword in the stone until Arthur pulled it out?
video;
[Except for the playful part, possibly.]
I've no idea, but I imagine it was a long time.
video;
It was a pretty long time though I think, yeah. Something like... long enough for people to forget that the sword in the stone test existed. And I am pretty sure that a pure heart was one of the requirements to getting it out. So if Ho-oh is as picky as the sword, it could be searching for hundreds of years not just a hundred-or-so.
video;
...Perhaps that is one of the reasons we were brought here. The more people Ho-oh sees, the more likely it is it'll find the one it seeks.
video;
Could be! Kind of sounds like an oddly specific yet random reason to bring people here but what do we know. Maybe there's some greater importance to Ho-oh's quest. But... does that mean that if Ho-oh does find somebody that we all have to leave?
video;
That's quite possible, depending on the number of reasons we were brought here in the first place. If it happens to be the principal one, finding that person would be reason enough to send most of us home.
video;
Mmm... well I hope that if that is the case, it at least gives us a choice whether or not we want to go back. I mean, while home is unpleasant for me personally and I just don't want to go back, for some people it can be a full on death sentence. And that would be kind of terrible to force them to go back to if they don't want to, you know?
