74th moon [video]

It took some time to choose the right building and decorate it all, but my new house is finally ready.

[Cecil sounds very proud of that, and if those Pokémon cheering in the background are any indication he's not the only one.]

It is still missing a little something, however, and that something would be visitors. Therefore, I would like to invite you all to a small celebration in Celadon on February the 28th, starting at five in the afternoon. I would be happy to send my Flying-types to pick up anyone who might otherwise be unable to come, and hope to see you all there.

[He starts to turn the Gear off, but suddenly stops himself.]

I would also be very happy to find good homes for the eggs that were not adopted during the convention, if anyone would have them. I've no doubt they'd make any trainer or breeder very happy.

[Lightning's a bit frazzled and windblown when she connects, scarf wrapped tight around her neck. What? It's cold when you're flying on Skarmory-back!]

What kind of Pokémon are the Petilil? They any good in a fight?

[Once trained, of course. Lightning wouldn't throw a newly-hatched into a battle against a level 100. Cecil knows this.]

[Sadly there would be more trouble if she didn't, and she has no other flyer. Odin just can't make up for the difference in time riding would cause.

She nods at the description, though the name of Cecil's makes her mouth twitch. Really?]

Could you send one on to Blackthorn? I'm headed that way now, but it'll take a couple more days to reach it.

[So long as she doesn't turn out to be as....useless as her namesake, anyway. Pretty names are good but frills are pretty much useless.]

That's fine. Lucky can keep her egg warm if it needs more time. [Fire types. A blessing in winter in more than one way.] I'll send you the money when I get there, alright?

[A fair point. Lightning will learn that by experience over the next few months, surely.

Also, Cecil gets a small smile--it's less the concern that she'd skip without paying and more the concern that Cecil might have needed the funds sooner than a few days, but...]

I'll call you before I send it, then. Shouldn't take more than another two or three days.

More like the time it takes my noisy steed to rest and thaw out his feathers. I'm fine until nightfall.

[A show of her hands--yep. Those are some thick looking gloves and the sleeve of a thick coat on top of Leon's leather jacket. Lady may be coastal but she's learned how to bundle in her years here.]

[As can anyone who's lived through a Johto winter or two. You don't mess with those things.]

He hasn't been complaining about that. I think his wings getting ice on them bothers him more.

[Hence why he's huddled up against Lucky just off camera. Skarmory are durable yes but they still feel cold!]

I don't think so. It's so cold up there anything liquid would freeze and make the problem worse. [frown.] It's helped a little down on the ground, but it's still mostly waiting them out.

[The wing sweaters, while cute, would probably just make things worse. Drag and resistance and more time in the cold. Urgh. They still have to fly back, too.]

Those really only help if you're in a city, Cecil. It wouldn't do you much good if you're camping out on a route.

[Hey, Lightning was content to wait out the winter at the beach house she's fixing! Except someone she knows put his head so far into a foxhole that now he needs help getting out and...yeah she's got an idiot to save. Winter weather waits for no one.]

Only if they put safety instructions in with them. Not everybody knows how to make a campfire, and the last thing we need is someone burning Route 29 to the ground.

[So much. And it ends up being most of the time, too.]

[a scoff] You'd be out a good sword, then. They'd probably use them as kindling or fuel without actually reading them.

[The universe that just loves to screw them over.]

It's worse than the not noticing the thing's there kind. [frown.] I've lost track of how many people I had to tell to actually read the guide in their bag.

[Because the people in it are worth fighting for.]

One or two of them. Some of them didn't even know it was there.

[And those are the people sometimes not worth saving. Who doesn't take stock of what they show up with?!]
