It took some time to choose the right building and decorate it all, but my new house is finally ready.

[Cecil sounds very proud of that, and if those Pokémon cheering in the background are any indication he's not the only one.]

It is still missing a little something, however, and that something would be visitors. Therefore, I would like to invite you all to a small celebration in Celadon on February the 28th, starting at five in the afternoon. I would be happy to send my Flying-types to pick up anyone who might otherwise be unable to come, and hope to see you all there.

[He starts to turn the Gear off, but suddenly stops himself.]

I would also be very happy to find good homes for the eggs that were not adopted during the convention, if anyone would have them. I've no doubt they'd make any trainer or breeder very happy.

Well, at least this explains to us why Ice-types are strong against Flying-types. It's a shame they have so few fireplaces here, they'd melt everything much more quickly.

Those really only help if you're in a city, Cecil. It wouldn't do you much good if you're camping out on a route.

Campfires, then. They should put the necessary equipment in every bag when we first arrive.

Only if they put safety instructions in with them. Not everybody knows how to make a campfire, and the last thing we need is someone burning Route 29 to the ground.

[So much. And it ends up being most of the time, too.]

...If I could, I'd bet you a good sword that they'd somehow end up burning the safety instructions long before the flames spread to the route itself.

[a scoff] You'd be out a good sword, then. They'd probably use them as kindling or fuel without actually reading them.

Ah, the deliberate and stubborn illiteracy problem. Much harder to fix than normal illiteracy, yet much more dangerous.

It's worse than the not noticing the thing's there kind. [frown.] I've lost track of how many people I had to tell to actually read the guide in their bag.

Did any of them finally do so after you told them to?

[That they are. ...Mostly.]

One or two of them. Some of them didn't even know it was there.

People suddenly thrown into a strange world should always know what supplies they have at hand, especially when they still do not know if a world is hostile. I certainly read mine the moment I could.
