[Some distance away, to the left of the (somewhat static-y) screen, a days-old Elgyem stands, panting and looking quite determined. To the right is a small plate, filled with tasty-looking berries. And between the two... a chair. A somewhat heavy-looking chair.

Now, a normal Pokémon would simply walk around the chair to reach the goodies, but Fu is obviously not a normal Pokémon. He's a paragon of strength and power! He's the standard by which all Pokémon should be measured! Which is why he bravely starts running and slams into the chair, in an attempt to move it out of the way.

It's quite obviously not working.]

Is that -ouch- truly normal behavior for -ow, dammit- Psychic-types?

[Poor Cecil (who will be staying offscreen, thank you) sounds completely baffled, and Fu apparently doesn't appreciate that. He turns around to look at his trainer, frowns, and literally launches himself at the protesting man. It would have been more impressive had it not been followed by a crack, a shout of surprise and a bout of wailing worthy of Whitney.]

...Does anyone know how to rid -ow- oneself of leftover static electricity? It makes dealing with him more -erk- complicated than it should be.

You have snow to deal with, instead. At least there's not as much as there was last winter.

At least snow melts and dries out. Sand takes forever to get out of my hair.

One of mine has wings made of cotton. I'd rather not think about the effort necessary to clean those.

She has a rather impressive wingspan. They also happen to be both large and thick.

And of course, her species has to be the one that insists on complete cleanliness at all times.

So you'd have her mad at you for getting her dirty, plus trying to wash her, plus the whole 'wet wings' deal. Sounds fun!

Let's not forget her usual haughty personality, too.

You'd probably be better off just dunking her in the ocean and sticking her in front of a fan if she ever got dirty.

Sadly, I've already put quite a lot of money into buying her good attacks. She has no need for weapons.

Buying what?

Has no one told you? The Goldenrod Department Store sells TMs that can teach new attacks to your Pokémon. There are even Move Tutors that travel the land and do so for free.

I just got here a few days ago, so I'm still trying to figure out what everything means. But Pokémon can learn, like, spells and stuff? Does it matter what the skill is?

Not only spells; they can learn physical attacks, too.

[Oh dear. Someone's entering Teach The Newcomer mode.]

Each Pokémon cannot learn all the attacks that are available. It depends on their species, their type... They can learn new ones simply by gaining levels, with the help of TMs or Move Tutors, or even by evolving.]

So it's like a black mage trying to learn white magic. Probably not gonna work.

However, our hypothetical black mage might not be able to learn Cure, but he could very well learn Holy. A few of the stronger attacks can be learn by a surprising number of Pokémon. In return, our hypothetical white mage could be unable to learn Fire, but have no trouble with the whole Thunder line of spells.

That makes sense!

Remembering all the details takes some effort, but the guide and pokédex are quite helpful with that. The Pokémon themselves also tend to know what attacks they can learn.

I doubt it, but there are many wild bird living on the roads near New Bark Town. They become stronger enough to take passengers, once they evolve and learn the right attack.
