[See Cecil. See Cecil stare blankly at the Pokégear. See Cleffa perched on his shoulders, nibbling on a berry.]

Where...

[The poor, confused ~~zombie?~~ man looks around, seeming rather lost. He does make sure to keep Cleffa stable, though.]

...Ceo.......dore?...

[And now he’s back to staring at the Pokégear. Is it merely because he found it in his pocket? Or does he somehow realize, even in his state, that he can use it to communicate?]

Aaaah...

[...Well, he’s certainly making an effort, at any rate.]

[Stare. Stare. Stare. And then-]

.....Squ.....all?......

[Even Cleffa is staring now. Her owner just spoke! Thank you, video man, for this miracle!]

Aaaaaahhh........aaaahh?....

[Even recalling that much seems to be a big effort.]

[ Squall wonders if somehow, his starter hit the recorder button. It's the only way that Cecil could have actually identified him so quickly. ]

[ Making sure the video function of his pokegear is on, Squall looks at the camera and starts speaking ]

Yeah... It's me. That's you, isn't it? Right, Cecil?

[...Cecil is half moonperson. For all we know identifying people he hasn't seen in years through their handwriting is some sort of genetic power.]

Graah...!

[His hand comes up, as if he was trying to reach Squall through the screen. And maybe he is.]

.....uuuoo....

[Is it really you? It's been so long, how are you doing? Why do you look so young?

He wants to ask, but that is beyond him now. He can only hold on to a vague memory of conflict and friendship.]

[ He gives the view screen a long studious stare, watching as Cecil moves. It's... in a word, wrong, seeing his old comrade like that. The Cecil he knew moved fluidly and gracefully but his movements now were almost choppy in Squall's opinion. He didn't like it. Didn't help that--]

...You just got here, didn't you.

[ Now isn't the time for suspicion or hesitation. His wariness about the others being the real deal needed to be pushed aside. Later, he can worry about whether or not this is really Cecil. This is about helping a comrade, an ally. A... friend. ]

Aaah...

[That's an affirmative. Probably.

He points at the Cleffa on his shoulder, and then points at the screen. Are little pink shoulder monsters normal around here?]

[ Somehow, Squall knows exactly what Cecil is talking about. maybe it was a mix of what he went through when he arrived just a week before or something else ("go talk to a wall"?) ]

Yeah... They are. Except that's not the only kind there is around here.

[ On cue, his own cyndaquil pokes its nose, quite literally, at the camera ]

[Cecil and Cleffa both watch this new monster with interest. Cleffa even stops nibbling on her berry.

And now Cecil starts counting on his fingers. Pink star-shaped monster; flaming monster; insect monster; three kinds?]

More than that. Much more.

[ He's tempted to bring out his newest but decides not to. Claiming the pathetic fish is his isn't something Squall wants to do anytime soon.

[ Not that it stops the fish from popping out of its ball and nudging Squall's starter to the side ]

[Four! And that one looks aquatic! Have a wave, brave Magikarp.]

Cleff-fa!

[And have a Cleffa wave too. ~~Cecil's kids just can't help trying to emulate him.~~]

[ Squall shakes his head before glancing off to the side. Already, this fish is starting to annoy him. Wasn't helping that the damn Magikarp was already starting to come out of its ball every single time his starter was about to do battle. ]

Hn. ...I'm not that far from New Bark right now. Though it might be a few days...

[ Already a plan's forming in his head. Seeing Cecil like this... brings back a few darker memories for him. It doesn't matter if Cecil was always more of Firion and Cloud's ally, than his. It's more than that. ]

[A few days?

Cecil takes out that Trainer Handbook thing and finds the map. He then places it in front of the Pokégear and points at it. Where are you anyway?]

Cherrygrove City. About three days travel from New Bark.

[ It'll put a wrench in his plans on traveling to Violet City but he'll deal. It's not like he's in a hurry to head over there in the first place. ]

[He first points at Cherrygrove City on the map, then raises three fingers and frowns. Three days? Psha. If it were a desert and he had to take care of an unconscious little girl, maybe. But Cecil is used to walking, and that little line on the map is nothing to him.

...Except most of his strenght is gone and he barely has any equipment. Ok, fine, maybe three days. He sighs.]

Yes, three days.

[ Squall sighs before looking at Cecil in the eye. ]

We could meet up sooner, if you're already on the road before I get there. It's a rather... straight forward route.

[Looks at Squall. Looks at the road beyond New Bark Town. Squall. Road. Squall. Road.

Squall.

Nods, with a determined expression that might remind Squall of a younger Cecil.]

[ He nods, briskly. His lips twitch at the familiar look on Cecil's face. He might not have known the other male much or for long but he could always recognize that look from any ally he had. It's always the same. ]

Good. I'll head your way, now.

[ Squall pauses for a moment before looking directly at the camera again. His voice is firm and authoritative. For the first time since he left his world, he's acting like the Commander he is. Something that might be surprising to Cecil and his fellow allies, since he never acted or told them what rank and position he was as a SeeD. ]

Keep me updated where you are. It might take anywhere between one and a half days to three days before I get to you.

[Cecil recognizes that tone. It's the one he uses everyday in the castle, directing the army and the reconstruction efforts. It's the one King Odin used with his men, back before...

He nods back. Will follow orders, sir!]

...And don't do anything stupid.

[ Squall cuts the tranmission before packing up his stuff, not even going to bother wondering why he even said that.

[ He glances at his Cyndaquil and the Magikarp he caught before nodding to himself. If he moved quickly, he might actually meet Cecil much sooner than plan. ]
