If anyone has found themselves in Cianwood and wishes to leave, Kayne still has some room on his back. We leave from the beach in two hours.

[Geez, someone is in a charming mood today. He's currently around the beach, watching a Dragonite, a Swablu and a Delibird fly around while a Milotic and a Gyarados are swimming.

...Which might very well explain his behavior, actually.]

He'll return to a time when he can learn to trust people again, at least.

[A very small consolation.]

...Again. [ A soft sigh. ]

He...didn't even know who I was, this time. Maybe it's for the better.

We recalled little from home, back then. But he definitely managed to remember you, once it was over. He'll recognize you next time.

...I hope so.

[ Rinoa fiddles with her necklace for a moment. ]

Um. Can I ask what happened when you two met? It sounds like something big.

...It was.

[Goodness, where to start?]

It happened seventeen years ago, from my point of you. Cosmos, the goddess of harmony, and Chaos, the god of discord, were at war. To fight it, they needed champions. Squall and I were both summoned to Cosmos' side.

...Did you win?

[ She's still trying to process the rest of that information, so she's sorry for the blunt question. ]

We did, at the cost of Cosmos' life.

[Otherwise, their worlds might not even exist anymore.]

But Squall apparently comes from a time when we lost. That... could not have been good for him.

....I'm sorry.

That might explain why he seemed so...guarded, again. [ Because she'd thought he was beyond that, before... ]

...It makes sense, from what I've heard of that particular period. Between that, and the fact that three of us remember different events, he had quite a few reasons to feel wary.

He was like that when I first met him, but after everything, he'd opened up a lot....I was really surprised to see that he was back to that state.

Perhaps he would have remembered he could open up to others without fear, over time. Pokémon battles and frequent contet with you might have been enough to help him recall that.

I...you think so? [ Brightening a little at the thought. ]

If he shows up again and doesn't remember, I'll keep that in mind.

And since battling could return some of our memories, I could always hit him a few times to start the process.

As long as you don't hit him too hard! I'd kind of like him to still be in one piece.

Squall can take any attack I throw at him, but I promise not to hit his face.

I'm not doubting his strength, but that makes me feel a little better.

No unfair attacks, either. You'll have him back fully functional.
