29th moon [video]

[The scene is chaotic and glorious: Pokémon shouting, yelling, pleading, all at the same time and at the loudest volume they can manage. Yet somehow, the following can be heard...]

One at the time, please. I only have one hand to write.

[Not that Cecil's request is heeded. He sighs, and addresses the Pokégear directly.]

With the new additions to Goldenrod's catalog, I thought shopping might be a good idea, and it appears my Pokémon agree. Will anyone need something from that list? Some of those items can be rather expensive for newcomers, especially if you've not yet found work. As long as you tell me where you are, I can ask the store to post it to you.

[If he survives the yelling Poképile, that is.]

Where's the fun in that? Unless you're volunteering?

Pity. But I'll tell you how it goes.

[he blinks, slowly] You've been in Ecruteak for a while now, really. What's the engagement?

Ah, I didn't know you had a daughter. This must be an interesting place to raise her.

That's a shame, since they're such fascinating creatures. Isn't there even one that she likes?

That's a good way of thinking about it. [a pause, deliberate] She's very lucky, to have a father like you.

Mm, I think it's that sort of thinking that makes it admirable.

Do you think it's possible, for one to grow too old for bedtime stories?

Pride, the eternal foe against the perfectly innocuous bedtime stories. Sounds like the stuff of legends -- maybe someone should write a poem about it.
