18th moon [video] backdated to the early evening

[Cecil's bedroom is currently extremely chaotic. Of course, any bedroom would be considered chaotic, if its contents were being packed up in a hurry by five Pokémon. Why isn't Cecil taking care of it himself, you ask? Because he's busy wrapping a Dratini egg in enough scarves to keep it warm in a blizzard.]

Everyone, I'm returning to Cherrygrove to meet up with Edward. If anyone has any deliveries to make in Violet or Cherrygrove, I can take care of them. I will also welcome any travelling partner.

[He almost turns off the Pokégear, but pauses. When he speaks, his voice sounds uncertain, hesitant.]

...Light. Bartz. Zidane. Squall. Do you think... Do you remember... [He shakes his head.] Nevermind. It's not important.

[He finally cuts off the feed.]

Yes, but... If people were capable of working together, there wouldn't be wars.

Until the arrival of an outsider less willing to cooperate, at least.

Mm. People, as a whole, seem to be good, but-- not all of us are.

A shame. This world seems to have little criminal activity, other than Team Rocket's acts. But what will happen if criminals keep arriving?

Mmm. I'd hope that whatever was bringing us here would be more selective.

Which makes me wonder if we were truly brought here deliberately. If someone wanted to cause chaos, they would only bring criminals. If they wanted to help this world somehow, proactive heroic people would be better. Yet both arrive every week, along with helpless children and adults who only wish to live their own lives peacefully.

Yes. Maybe they're-- incapable of choosing? They might not have the ability to pick accurately.

A random selection would explain a lot, though it would make certain aspects of this world rather strange.

There has to be an answer to all of it, but I'm not sure where to even start looking.

Many are looking wherever they can, but I've not yet heard anyone mention results.

With this many people searching, I'm sure we'll find it out eventually. It just might take more time than most would prefer.

I care not for the time it will take, as long as we all find a way to stay in contact after we return home.

[Subaru thinks briefly about the friends he's been making, then smiles a little.] I would like that, too.

This world helped me reconnect with friends I'd not seen in seventeen years. I'd like not to have to wait that long to see them again, after we leave.

[he smiles a little] That's understandable. It makes sense to want to see your friends as often as you can.

It would be nice to see what they'll become in the future, too. Our of our whole group, only two of us aged before reaching Johto.

[Subaru looks surprised for a moment, then nods.] I forget that it makes sense, given everything else, for people from the same world to come from different time periods.

I once spoke to a girl who was travelling with someone who was from fifty years in her past. The gaps in time can be rather great.

[Subaru looks sincerely surprised at that.] That is-- quite startling. I'm not sure how I'd react if I met-- say, my grandmother when she was young.

Trying to explain your relationship could cause problem. She might end up believing you are mad, or worse.

Yes. I don't know what I would do... although I should figure it out, it is a possibility.

As someone in such a situation, I suggest a carefully edited version of events that stays away from subjects that could ruin relationships in the long term.

I'll make sure to do so. I hope to avoid the situation entirely-- I'm not very good at lying or omitting the truth.

Neither am I, but I have a feeling I'll get much practice at it very soon.

Mm. I hope I don't have to. [he can't imagine trying to lie to someone he loves...]
