Team:Charley (Misdreavous), William-the-Bloody (Swoobat), Fail Whale (Wailord), El Diablo Verde (Hawlucha), Little Timmy (Mimikyu), and Charlotte (Galvantula), all of which are level 100. Strategy: Surprisingly enough, Steven brings the same team to face Cecil's New Moon team as he did in his disastrous attempt against the Waxing Moon team, but there's a reason for this: they're his future Elite Four team and he wants to get some practice in with them as a team.
Anyway, unlike his new boyfriend, Steven doesn't have a layered strategy involving a lot of switching pokemon in and out. Instead, he designates a particular Pokemon for a particular fight, with back-ups in mind in case they go down--though hopefully now that he understands inverse battles better that won't happen.
Steven's main opponent against Luxray is William, his secondary starter, whose partial Flying-type proves advantageous against Electricity in an inverse battle. Luxray is already at a disadvantage to hit due to William being of the opposite sex to her, given her Rivalry, but he's going to use Attract to reduce that even more, as well as Taunting to seal off any status effects. After that it's a combination of Flying and Dual Wingbeats to finish her off. (Charlotte is back-up for this match, hitting Luxray in the Electricity with Rising Voltage if she's subbed in.)
His main opponent against Gardevoir happens to be Charley, his primary starter, who despite being a Ghost has a number of Psychic attacks in her pocket to smack up a Gardevoir with and being a Ghost, won't be as vulnerable in an inverse battle as another Psychic would be. She'll be avoiding status attacks given Gardevoir's Synchronize, Taunting early on to keep Gardevoir from hitting her with status attacks, and quite possibly throwing on Embargo to keep Cecil from healing Gardevoir with potions. After that it's time to smack and smack hard with Psychic. Repeatedly. (William and El Diablo are both possible back-ups, with William Zen Headbutting and El Diablo Brick Breaking, but El Diablo is less vulnerable in an inverse battle so he'd be sent in first.)
Against Lucario, Steven plans to pit Charlotte, hoping to use her Bug attacks to ruin the Fighting pokemon's day. Sticky Web to slow Lucario down, Screech to fuck up his defense, and then we Skitter Smack a bit in hopes of fucking up Lucario's special attack as well, with some Bug Buzzing to similarly fuck up special defense. Then it's a lot of X-Scissoring. Maybe a Toxic. (Fail Whale is back-up for this match, since he's got a lot of useful attacks that hit things Lucario is now vulnerable to like Rock Tomb and Ice Beam and Heavy Slam.)
Against Steelix we have Little Timmy, whose Fairy-typing is suddenly strong against Steel here in the mixed-up world of inverse battling. She uses her Baby-Doll Eyes to get Steelix to let their guard down, then hits them with a combo of Dazzling Gleams with some Draining Kisses to keep her health up. Toxic doesn't hurt either. (Charley and William with their Psychic attacks and Charlotte with her Bug attacks are possible back-up for this match and will be subbed in according to who is in the best shape.)
For the match against Froslass, Steven's main Pokemon is El Diablo, whose Fighting attacks should really ruin her day given how they'd normally be unable to touch her. After Taunting to keep her from using status moves, El Diablo Sword Dances to up his attack, then it's Brick Breaking, Rock Smashing, and if he's doing well for hit points perhaps a High Jump Kick. He can use some Toxic here as well. (Charlotte and Fail Whale are back-up here, with her X-Scissoring and him Ice Beaming.)
Finally, Steven is sending Fail Whale out as his main opponent against Goodra, since Goodra is vulnerable to Water attacks while inversed. After Noble Roaring to fuck up Goodra's attack and special attack, Fail Whale goes immediately to Water Spouting while he's still got most of his HP and then Surfs and Hydro Pumps to make Goodra wet and miserable and hopefully fainted. (Charlotte is the back-up for this match, using Discharge and Rising Voltage to hit Goodra in the inversed Electricity weakness.)
ANYWAY. Hopefully this time around Steven will have acquitted himself much better that our handwaved first attempt and they won't have to stay at Cecil's gym yet another night.
