Early on the morning of December 15th, a human and an Infernape enter Celadon, looking tired and dirty and generally like they haven't properly taken care of themselves for a few weeks. Still, they'll stop and chat with anyone interested, and in the monkey's case quite possibly flirt with any nearby ladies, Pokémon or human.

But sooner or later, they'll politely take their leave and keep going, until they finally reach their house. There, they'll promptly allow themselves to collapse on the couch, manners be damned. Sorry, teammates and guests]

Hours later, it's a now clean and fed man that can be seen on the network, still looking more than a little tired.]

Has anyone considered leaving caches of supplies hidden throughout the various caves in both regions, in case of emergencies? If those uncontrollable teleportations keep happening every six months, they'll be needed sooner or later.

Yeah, there are a lot of parallels just like that. Thunderbolt over Thundershock, Flamethrower instead of Ember... I'd say Surf has both those moves beat, though, since it hits everything on the field.

[Granted, that's kind of a double-edged sword if the user's got a Pokémon weak to fire on their team.]

I have to admit that I was quite surprised by that. I'd never seen a spell that could harm your own allies without being directly aimed at them or reflected before.

Might just be from a logical standpoint. I mean, a tidal wave's gonna hurt anything that gets smothered by it, even if they are on the same side, and an earthquake's gonna shake everything in its path. Kind of stinks, but I guess it's just more incentive to build the right team.

Or there might be a way to remove that disadvantage. Leviathan's Tidal Wave and the Quake spell do not affect the caster's allies, after all, and they both greatly resemble Surf or Earthquake.

But what could do it? There's moves like Magnet Rise to deal with Earthquake, but I can't think of any items or attacks that'd grant invulnerability, short of stuff like Protect.

There is Telepathy, but as only one species that I know of can have that ability, building a whole team around it is not very practical. Finding a way to modify the attack itself would be more useful, or at least lead to more team variety.

It wouldn't be so bad if more Pokémon had that ability. I've never really bothered with the Elgyem line, but you'd think that other Psychics could pick it up, too. I mean, telepathy goes hand in hand with their typing.

[How else can they communicate with their trainers so easily? Are those little aliens special snowflakes or something?]

There's the possibility that a regular Psychic-type's telepathy is not quite fast enough to avoid an unannounced attack, but that would still not explain why only one line has the necessary mental speed.

But is that line really the smartest? I mean, Alakazams supposedly remember everything they ever see, learn, and experience. That sounds like a pretty tough act to beat.

...I cannot comment on the average intelligence of the Elgyem line, as Fu forgets that chairs are solid more often than not. I would like to think that he's not representative of his species.

He forgets chairs are solid?

Then what the heck does he think they are?

Irrelevant colored shapes blocking his view of the door, I think. That, or he somehow believes that his powers includes walking through objects in his way.

Maybe he was a Ghost type in a past life.

[Darn it, ghosts are already dead. And how do you even go from ghost to alien?]

Why not? It's not as if Fu has much sense in the first place.
