A word of advice, for trainers and breeders both old and new.

Try to acquire a Tangrowth, a Cradily or an Omastar. They can be trained to give excellent massages, with some patience.

[And with some tolerance for slimy appendages wriggling around like a particularly lively Malboro.]

Just got a Tangela myself, she's still just a baby but that'd be totally awesome if I could get her to learn that. Bet it'd feel amazing.

It'd be a little harder for your Tangela since her vines are not as lonng, but you could easily start teaching her now. I think it helps them relax just as much as it helps me.

[A few cries of agreement come from behind him. Looks like they agree.]

Blissey egg omelette. A classic, though it'd be even tastier for breakfast.

Think I might work on that, so she gets some small practice in before she's all big an' strong.

[Which reminds her, she doesn't exactly know when or how Tangela even evolves. She's pretty sure it couldn't back in her old games, but there's a lot of new pokemon who weren't in her games.]

Omelettes are awesome no matter what time a day, no question. An' you know how she would evolve? I"m kinda new at some of these babies.

Perhaps she could start with your arms. They make a smaller target, but they're also quite likely to be tense at the end of the day.

Malboro evolved around level 40, apparently after learning AncientPower. But you might be able to speed the process up if you find an alternate way to teach her that attack.

They're decent attackers and can take a few hits, which is good since they're rather slow. However, they stand no chance against special attacks such as Flamethrower.

[That earns him a light slap, but the massage continues right after that.]

Understandable. They sound like good walls of defense of anything that isn't their weakness.

[ A consideration to her team make up! She watches the slap. Massages sound good right about now... She rolls her arm. ]

It might look like random crawling, but I can assure you my back has not felt so relaxed in quite a long time. They know what they're doing.

[...But it's still tentacles.]

They're not quite as defensive as a Blissey would be, but that's to be expected. Their type also makes them ideal against Kanto's first few Gyms, if you seek to obtain badges.

[That particular comment must have pleased Malboro, because he peeks around Cecil's shoulder and offers a wave.]

...but... Dude, they're tentacles. How the hell does that feel good?

There are enough of them to massage all of my tense muscles at once. Therefore, I'm not left relaxed on one side and in pain on the other.

Definitely one of the best pieces of advice I've gotten since I arrived here. Not much can beat a good massage.

Indeed. I cannot believe it took me so long to realize that; I've had Malboro for nearly a year, and yet I only started teaching them last month.

Never too late to learn something new, right? Now I'm going to have to go find one of those Pokemon you mentioned...

Now that all those fossils are resting again, obtaining an Omastar or a Cradily might be slightly complicated, though I imagine breeders will soon start offering them. But I think you can find a Tangela on a few routes.

You chose not to take the boat, then? It's a relatively recent option, but many newcomers appear to appreciate it.

Don't worry overly much about that. In a few weeks you'll have your own share of horrifying and amusing stories to share with new arrivals.

A pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Harvey. [Gotta respect the adults.] When I arrived here, my two best friends were already here. They came to get me right away, so it definitely did make things easier on me.

And apparently, I had been here once before, though I don't really remember it. So there are a lot of people in this world that already knew of me and considered me a friend, even though I didn't know them anymore. It's a little frustrating, because I know I disappointed them by not remembering.

You're quite lucky. When I arrived here, even those who had friends waiting for them could wait for weeks before seeing them.

[And sometimes people disappeared before that could happen.]

It happens. Some people come to stay, others leave and return over and over again... But I've no doubt the happiness that comes with seeing you outweights the disappointment from your lack of memories.

Once I'm more secure in funds, I could visit Kanto.

That's true. The first few days here are often the most difficult, with such limited funds and no way to buy supplies. And travelling to Kanto is always somewhat expensive.

[Unless one gets that nice little cruise ticket, but considering that involves visiting all Gyms in both regions...]

It has quite lovely landmarks and cities. Visiting Mt. Moon at night is particularly worth the journey, especially if you reach the square during a full moon.

So you've already visited the place if you know that much.

I've visited every town and nearly every cave and route in both Johto and Kanto. Perhaps not as long as some of them deserve, but I could still appreciate their beauty.

That must be very frustrating. I only had to wait while Sora and Riku decided whether they wanted to teleport or to fly over to me.

Three years and almost a month. I was not quite one of the earliest arrivals, but this world has changed a lot since then.

They were dying to try teleporting, so they went with that in the end. It only took a few minutes to actually get here, but it took them an hour or so before they got themselves together enough to do it.

Back then, no one even knew that Kanto existed beyond those who were familiar with this world before arriving, and even they had no idea how to reach it. Few trainers had seen Goldenrod, much less the cities further away, and the path leading to it from Violet was blocked by Sudowoodos. And many species that are extremely common now were practically never seen, be it on the road or with other trainers.

An hour of planning for a few minutes of travel? That's not very efficient, if you ask me.

[He seems more amused than anything else, though.]

That could explain the new species that spring up every so often, yes. The rest of it is most likely due to the greater amount of resources and knowledge we've obtained over the years, and the locals' realization that opening Kanto's paths to us would be profitable.

Yet I keep hearing we're all still "closed off" in a sense. That Kanto and Johto aren't the only regions in this... world we're in.

That is correct. There are other regions such as Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova out there. But it could be that they are too far away for us to visit easily. The locals do not have airships, after all.

Sometimes boys are completely useless, unfortunately. No offense. [She's kidding, really!]
