[The view from the Pokégear is askew, as if it had been dropped on a bag in a hurry. The image is dark and a bit foggy, but sufficient staring reveals Cleffa, frowning, deeply engaged in-

-a staring contest with a Shuppet?

It is a test of wills. Only the winner will show itself worthy of being the greatest of all Pokémon. The tension is nearly palpable. Cleffa stares! Shuppet stares back!

And neither of them pay any attention to Cecil, who is sneaking up behind Shuppet. With a pokéball. He stops, he takes a deep breath, he stretches, he aims, he swings, he throws-]

Dammit!

[-and he misses by a large margin, hitting the Pokégear and interrupting the feed.]

((ooc: Don't worry, Cecil will catch that Shuppet! ...On the third try.

...I suppose we did end up with the worst type possible. Then again, those Dark-types and Psychic-types the Handbook mentioned sound like they could do a lot of damage to our minds.

Clingy? Well, I suppose that coming from something that is Rosie's size, it would be fine. [Poor guy has no idea.]

[ Squall finally looks at Cecil in the eye for more than a minute, skeptical. ]

[Kaito kinda stares at the camera for a moment... before he grabs his Arbok's pokeball and releases the HUGE INTIMIDATING SNAKE-THING into the open for Cecil to see.

Arbok lets out a VERY INTIMIDATING CRY before he proceeds to stare derpily at the camera]

Everyone's reactions made it sound like an isolated event. If it wasn't, the authorities would have been better prepared.

Pleased to meet you, although the circumstances could be better.

...Allow me to say that I am very happy you are alive and breathing, and that I hope you stay that way for a very long time.

[Cecil is trying to imagine that snake-thing being clingy, and I can assure you that the image in his head is very hilarious.]

[The Arbok tilts his head one way and then the other way in return, his tongue hanging derpily out of his mouth as Kaito pats his head]

He's not nearly as scary as he looks. Trust me.

Well, it is like naming a pet cat, is it not?

...Although I suppose cats generally don't radiate quite as much sadism.

[Cecil, your attempt at a joke is horrible. But Squall is now making eye contact. Success!]

...Do they all get so big? [Cleffa, she is so cute and tiny.]

Not all of them. Biz is still pretty small.

The wildlife must get rather interesting further along, if it involves giant purple snakes.

The 'wildlife' in this world is interesting not matter where you go.

[ He echoes the word before shaking his head. Really, just really, Cecil? Squall shakes his head. ]

[God, his jokes really are pathetic. His face takes on a bit of a distant look.]

Back home, two members of my group were dolls, who accompanied their owner on our quest. The two of them had once been used against us by my brother... And yet, they were called by their names, and treated just like everyone else.

I'm angry at it. Furious, even. But by awakening my darkness, it awakened my light... And it is now part of my team. Not naming it wouldn't feel right.

I guess it is. It's like the monsters back home, but less... serious. More relaxing somehow. Perhaps because we can make them our allies.

[He picks up the pokéball and throws it. Shuppet comes out looking a bit surprised, but otherwise quite fine.]

Avenger. Do you like that name?

[Shuppet thinks about it for a few aeconds, then nods. Cecil smiles and calls it back.]

Avenger it is, then.

You had a sword called Avenger.

[ Squall blinks before shrugging. It couldn't really say anything about that. One of his old gunblades was called Punishment. ]

I didn't use it much. It was strong, but it had a Berserk effect on anyone who wielded it. Merely holding it made thinking much harder.

Yeah. I guess everyone has their own problems.

You to.

...Cecil? You are trying to catch one of them?

[Light isn't near Cecil- he's headed to the beach near town, to let his Wooper enjoy itself in the water as usual and to try and forget the aftereffects of his own hallucination by staying out in the sun.]

[...Had everyone seen that?]

Trying is indeed the right word. Rosie has no attacks that can affect it.

Perhaps you should try to hit it with the pokeball again. If her attacks do not affect it, then there is nothing else you can do to catch it.
