[The feed shows a wall. A nice, plain white wall. One that is partially hidden by a Clefable, a Banette and a Delibird holding paint brushes, but still. It even shows a part of the floor, or at least it would if said floor was not covered by a newspaper. Avenger is busying himself with a bottle of blue paint and a saucer, while Rosie and Tellah are thoughtfully considering the different brush sizes.

Let it not be said that Cecil's Pokémon do not possess an excellent work ethic.

It's a shame his sudden shouts in the background sound too angry to appreciate it, really.]

Perhaps not, but should reparations ever be needed you can take care of them yourself, instead of having to rely on your poor hard-working trainer's salary. That's also a form of responsibility.

[Rosie whimpers somewhat guiltily in the background, but Avenger merely snorts.]

That's true, although I know some of my bosses wouldn't view it that way.

A noble goal, but I fear those three do not have such lofty ideals. Rosie should keep to portraits, truly.

You never know. Perhaps those portraits give insight into the subject's soul. The most amazing things happen in the hands of amateurs.

...You could say that the look on Biz's face when she gave him his portrait was amazing indeed.

Then again, practice makes perfect. Portrait painting can be a very profitable profession with some fame or notority.

In a world such as mine, perhaps, but the existence of Pokégears and still pictures must have greatly reduced the local market. Keeping images of our loved ones seems surprisingly easy.

That is true. There's still a market for portrait painting, but it's an extremely expensive and exclusive one.

[He sighs and shakes his head.]

As much as I adore photography, there is something to be said for lost art. Perhaps it will be in vogue again someday.

Goodness knows a skilled artist deserves a healthy clientele, considering the time and studies needed to paint an acceptable portrait. I know I've never been left unsatisfied by those who worked for us.

Have you often hired portrait painters? Did you do it for special occasions or general purposes of memory?

Both. We had to pose for many official portraits, of course, but Rosa and I wanted to keep a few pictures of our son.
