[Today, in the foreground, one Cecil Harvey can be seen! Along with, in the background, another Cecil- Wait, what?]

Has anyone else tried to stump the girl? I thought my armor would suffice, but she rose to the challenge admirably.

[Cecil? laughs from where she? sits near Rosie, but does not turn towards the Gear. Cecil? smiles in response, though he? seems slightly embarrassed.]

I should have known better than to bet against a mimic, truly.

But I bet they'd be real strong against...

... against whatever dragons're strong against.

That depends on the dragon, but some of those strengths would be useless for shoes.

I dunno. If they're strong against swords... that's a whole new realm of possibilities.

Few swordsmen aim for the feet.

I was thinkin' more like if you accidentally tripped over a sword or spear.

...I would like to think that such incidents are extremely rare.

That probably depends on where you live.

...They are rare in Baron, at least.

What other things are dragons strong against?

A few elements, but those depend on the exact species.

... wait, if you threaded the skins of a lot of different dragons into a pair of shoes, would you get uber-shoes?

...The color combination would certainly blind you, at least.

Do they really look that different?

From green to black to gold to red, with metal thrown in.

Black, gold an' red could be real stylish.

Not when put together with yellow and two shades of blue.

That's why we got paint.

...Can paint truly be used on scales?

... they can't?

It'd take special paint, I think. Or dye.

Would it be that hard to find...?

Not here, but certainly in my world.

Ah!

Maybe you can synthesize it usin' the parts of some other monster.

...Such as their skins or furs?

Yeah! Like... dragonskin shoes, but wrapped in monster fur or somethin'.
