[Cecil can seen, standing in the middle of a Pokémart. A Pokémart that is not Violet's. He's supposed to be in Violet. Why isn't he in Violet?]

Mahogany has what is quite possibly the worst selection of souvenirs I've even seen, and that includes the one time when Palom wanted me to choose between a pig and a toad who turned out to be his classmates.

[Why is he in Mahogany? Well, obviously for the badge. How did he even get there? You'd be surprised by the flying speed of a Dragonite. When did he get there? ...Really, really surprised.]

Rosa, Rydia, Kain. Would you rather receive a candy bar, a postcard, or a pair of Magikarp-shaped earrings? Or a fishing rod. They seem to love their fishing rods.

[He starts looking around with little interest in his eyes.]

I'd offer to bring back dinner instead, but by the time I return to Violet it'll certainly be cold. Please don't wait for me if I take too long.

Fair enough.

Though it's nice to have children about, to remind others that there is life outside of treaties.

Yet even they must learn how to argue for these treaties, once they reach a certain age. They find themselves absorbed into that world, in the end.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, huh.

There are some aspects of family not even a teenager will rebel against.

In a world like yours, maybe.

You know of people who would ignore such responsibilities?

[a wry smile, here] There are plenty who would. After all, that's why only select people can be kings, right?

Few people can be king, but in the end it has very little to do with responsibility.

I'd say there's a least something to do with it. Responsibility also has much to do with the upbringing-- and children in that sort of environment might be better equipped to be a king.

At least in comparison to the one you're liable to pull off the streets.

Most kings do hope for a responsible heir, of course, and they'll do their best to inculcate good values in their children. But too many kings have inherited the throne simply because they had the right blood for it, without the necessary qualities. That mentality is starting to change in my world, thank goodness.

Anyway, I'd better leave you to your road of Blackthorn conquest.

Blackthorn is still quite far away. But I do need to return to Violet before a few people decide to come looking for me.

Some luck would be nice indeed. Dragons can be rather tricky to battle.
