Early on the morning of December 15th, a human and an Infernape enter Celadon, looking tired and dirty and generally like they haven't properly taken care of themselves for a few weeks. Still, they'll stop and chat with anyone interested, and in the monkey's case quite possibly flirt with any nearby ladies, Pokémon or human.

But sooner or later, they'll politely take their leave and keep going, until they finally reach their house. There, they'll promptly allow themselves to collapse on the couch, manners be damned. Sorry, teammates and guests]

Hours later, it's a now clean and fed man that can be seen on the network, still looking more than a little tired.]

Has anyone considered leaving caches of supplies hidden throughout the various caves in both regions, in case of emergencies? If those uncontrollable teleportations keep happening every six months, they'll be needed sooner or later.

I did, with nothing but the clothes on my back. It turns out that taping important items to your own body for the last two weeks of November does not work.

I taped my pokégear and my wallet to myself every night for two weeks, and yet they still were not teleported away with me.

[Not a minute after the two are off their feet, there's a commotion elsewhere in the house - the sound of paws thundering down the hall as a Houndoom barrels into the living room.

The dog turns on a dime and freezes, staring at Cecil and Infernape intently for a few seconds; then, he firmly sits down, lifting his nose and barking loudly. More noises of movement ensue from other rooms as the noise proceeds to awaken every living being in the house (and there are a lot of them).]

[All that Houndoom barking gets the other Houndoom in the house to exit the master bedroom (after dislodging a grumpy Hydreigon head, joy oh joy) and stalk dignifiedly to the living room, ready to give the ruffian a piece of her mind- Wait, is that her trainer? He's back?

This is obviously an excellent reason to jump on the couch and start yipping excitedly, which has the side effect of interrupting the human and monkey hands that were trying to wave a greeting at their noisy guest. Dogs, seriously.]

[Orthrus continues his barking, scooching around so he's making as much noise in the direction of the hall as possible. A Skarmory is the next one out, talons scrap-scrap-scrapping on the floor as she bursts into the room and begins sprinting laps around the couch.

She's followed - finally - by the one human guest currently present in the house, dressed in pajama pants and a plain shirt and clearly fresh out of bed. Walter looks groggy and disheveled but still wary, squinting at the couch from the doorway to the hall.]

...Who're you?

[He's not aware enough to form logical conclusions.]

[Though...from the sounds of things, Cecil got the teleportation bug much worse than John did.]

Where did you end up? Aside from a cave, obviously...

Mt. Mortar. The deep part of Mt. Mortar. The one with no food fit for human consumption, no clearly defined way out, and no Pokégear to call for help.

[He drink the last three weeks out of his mind, if he could.]

Christ, I feel lucky now. I got stuck halfway through route 29 in the middle of the tornado. No gear, no flyers which sucked but at least there were like...the occasional mushrooms.

And fresh air...

You at least had some Pokémon with you for protection, right?

You know that's probably a good idea considering the things that happen around here.

I'm fine now. Regretting the fact that I never thought about preparing supply caches while I was travelling before, but fine. I'll know better in six months' time.

An abject inconvenience. If the seemingly random teleportations are a monthly occurrence then perhaps it would be best to have a publicly accessible cache of supplies during this time.

They happen twice a year, usually at the end of November and May. Though I was quite lucky; many find themselves with no available supplies in the Ice Cave instead.

[Mt. Mortar and its endless Zubats is a step up. A small one.]

[ Now making mental note to find a way to chain self down wherever possible during that time. ]

A state of constant vigilance, perhaps, is what we would need in order to ensure we never get caught unprepared in the light of random teleportation... though publically accessible emergency supplies seem to be a practical suggestion.

I'm neither in a cave surrounded by Zubats nor on the road with nothing but the clothes on my back and a friendly Monferno by my side. We'll count that as okay.

I was prepared, as a matter of fact. But it turns out that taping your wallet and Pokégear to yourself does not work under those conditions.

Yeah, you look a bit tired. Maybe leaving chests with items around in random places wouldn't be such a bad idea.

My only concern's the wild Pokémon. Couldn't they dig up those supplies and carry them off?

The logistics would be complicated at first, and such grand plans tend to be interrupted by unhappy disappearances.

[Quite possibly because they take a while to implement.]

Probably, which is an additional hurdle. Spraying repels on everything would work for some time, but sooner or later the smell would fade away.

And burying risks them getting lost for good... or, you know, eaten by ground types, crushed if there's ever an earthquake.

No matter what, there'd be some kind of complications.
