I've found Marcus and Seifer in my storage this morning.

[A pause. The feed shows the sky and nothing more, with small, regular movements hinting that it was not placed on a stable surface. The sounds of waves is very close by.]

My head hurts terribly, and my dreams make no sense, even though they're not quite dreams, even though-

[He interrupts himself. Another pause.]

I need to do something.

[A sigh. There is a disturbance in the water, but he ignores it.]

Edward. Rydia. I leave for Ecruteak tonight. Will you follow?

[Even after practicing for some minutes, his voice sounds like he's pleading. He ignores it. A serpentine head appears on the Pokégear, dripping water all over it. Cecil's hand comes up to pet her.]

Be careful, Leviathan. The Pokégear does not like water.

...It hurts-

[The hand comes down to cut the feed.]

...Sounds like you're having a rough time, Cecil.

...Two of my friends disappeared yesterday.

Two of them at once? Looks like this place doesn't screw around.

I will. [His voice regains some strength.] As long as I act. I cannot stay idle here.

I know the feeling. I've been training while I wait for someone to get to Violet, but other than that? I'm going stir crazy without a good fight now and then.

I know my team is strong enough to defeat Morty. Perhaps some of the others, too. I might as well do that. [A small smile, even if Lancer can't see it.]

I hear I don't have any type advantages or whatever over this Falkner guy. Fine with me, I'm used to relying on brute force. It's just a matter of getting up when you're knocked down once more than the other guy does.

Either way, nothing like a good match to take your mind off things.

Fire and water are not advantaged, but they are not disadvantaged either. As long as your levels are high enough, you'll be fine.

A project or a long term goal would do just as well, but battling would be more efficient right now. Or raising a new Pokémon.

I don't lose. That kid won't even know what hit him.

Might be a good idea. I could probably use a fourth, myself.

[ Quistis looks carefully composed, but the husky note in her voice betrays something melancholy. ]

... Seifer? [ Well, she assumes it's a Pokémon, which means — ] ... One of Squall's team?

Violet is the point where you start seeing more types. You might want a Rock or Ground-type.

I guess I'll look around and see what I can find.

...His Gyarados. [A pause.] His second Pokémon. He caught him back in August and he evolved in September. It was quite a sweet moment, in retrospect, though at the time I was too busy panicking-

I'm rambling. I apologize.

Onix. Rock snakes. They start off impressive, they become even more impressive after they evolve, and you can ride them. Geodudes, also.

Having something I could ride would probably make traveling a lot easier. Though I'd prefer a horse, a rock snake sounds pretty damn interesting.

Ponytas are horses, but I've not yet seen wild ones. You'd have to depend on a breeder to find one. At least you can easily catch a Onix in the Union Cave.

Maybe I'll ask Rider if she feels like breeding hers. Can't imagine how much she'd want for it, though.

Union Cave. I'll remember that.

Rider? A friend of yours?

The cave itself is simple enough, but the road to it is long. The exit is near Azalea.

Not exactly. But where we haven't really been fighting, I might get lucky if she's in a decent mood.

[Or he'll get stepped on by a Ponyta. Tough call.]

I don't mind traveling. I'll have to go through it to get to the next town anyway, from the sound of things.

...That's close enough. If she hesitates, you might be able to breed something for her in exchage.

Unless someone moves the Sudowoodo for you, yes. But even if someone did, you'd merely reach the cave from the other side.

[ She laughs a little, but it sounds sad, too. She glances away. ] That means he named a Magikarp 'Seifer.'

... No, it's... it's fine. I understand completely. [ Her smile is genuine, if rueful. ] I'll miss him, too.

He did. [He's smiling a little, even if no one can see it.] He named his Cyndaquil Zell, too. People from your world?

At least he'll be waiting for you at home. [An hesitant pause.] Will he... be fine, there? He won't have to fight Ultimecia again, will he?

Dreams?

_{[Yes, that's what he picks up on. The names mentioned aren't telling him anything, but he looks at Cecil with some sympathy, assuming.]

You don't sound very well.

Dreams. Flashes of people and pieces of worlds, too fleeting to make much sense.

[Not that his explanation makes much sense either.]

...Two of my friends returned to their worlds yesterday.

So they're not dreams at all.
