[The only thing that can be seen at first is the strong light of an evolution. The strong light of two evolutions, actually. The brand new Clefairy and the brand new Banette stare at each other for a few seconds, before looking at the Pokégear.]

[The answer to their question comes hesitantly.]

...You started evolving at the same time, and finished at the same time. I believe this is a draw.

[Wrong answer, Cecil. The moment they hear the word 'draw', Rosie and Avenger start arguing.]

...I suppose evolving did not change you much, then. [He sighs and turns the Pokégear off.]

Oh, my. Your Pokemon certainly get along, don't they?

They have a bit of a rivalry, sometimes.

I have. That is why they only have a rivalry. The first few days were rather less pleasant, I assure you.

Thank you. They would certainly appreciate the compliment, if they were listening. How is Marianne doing?

I can imagine. Proper discipline can break them of such things, you know.

I do try to act more strictly, sometimes, but I can never manage to keep it up. I suppose I spoil them a bit.

Marianne is an absolute sweetheart; she really seems to have taken a liking to David.

Only when they are training. They get along like siblings, most of the time.

How sweet. It's nice to see Pokémon getting along, not caring about types and compatibilities.

They're certainly enjoy arguing.

I think David and Marianne will become great friends in time, so long as they don't develop a taste for each other's food.

They do. That's how they show they care, I believe.

I doubt they'll find much interest in each other's meals, but I'll watch for it. Marianne is very possessive of her food.

They also play togehter, sometimes.

Avenger is a Banette. I caught him as a Shuppet, when the fog and all the ghosts showed up. I haven't seen any wild ones since then, actually.

All of her food, but especially with the sweet meats I've been feeding her. She needs the protein, though; she's always getting into fights, rambunctious little thing.

Then that is where your error lies. Spoiling them can fuel that rivalry.

If she fights often, she will learn new attacks quickly. With new attacks, she'll be able to fight longer and more efficiently. She has quite the self-sustaining hobby.

[But she's a pretty psycho bitch.]

Yet that rivalry drives them to excel. And when it comes down to it, they work together quite well. Could a few arguments truly become that much of a problem?

She's constantly getting into scraps with wild pokemon and random trainer's pokemon at my work place. But I can't blame her; she's rather like me when I was her age, constantly going about and getting into trouble. She's able to spin fire now, too. It's gorgeous.

If they make a habit of it. They may excel now, but if you think of the future...
